When Beatriz and Jennifer arrived at the beginning of 2016 at the Envera delegation in Las Palmas, interested in the opportunities offered by this entity specialized in the social and labor insertion of people with disabilities, they did not imagine what they would be able to achieve months later.
From the outset, both young women, aged 25 and 23 respectively, received personalized career guidance in line with their personal aspirations. After professional counseling, they decided to take the first step to begin a new stage, based on training, which would allow them to achieve the goals they had set for themselves.
Beatriz and Jennifer were part of the Digital 15 Project, launched by Envera as part of the Integrated Itineraries for Labor Market Insertion Program. After almost a year of training and internships in companies, they obtained the Certificate of Professionalism in Data and Document Recording and Processing Operations. However, getting this far was not a period, but the door to a world of possibilities because being able to train and work had transformed their lives. So their bet was to continue learning.
They say that every effort has its reward and for them, a few weeks later, the opportunity for which they had been preparing also arrived. Together, once again, they began to work as operators in a service company where they are now employed.
Now, self-confident and feeling capable of facing any challenge, Beatriz and Jennifer look forward to a future where they would like to continue specializing in order to consolidate their experience in the working world with a useful job for themselves, becoming a support for their families and for society.
During 2016, the Envera Placement Agency in Las Palmas served more than 220 people and managed to insert more than 20 people with disabilities in companies.
This year, with the aim of making further progress in integration, Envera has launched several training projects for employment in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Las Palmas delegation is hosting the Digital 16 Project, to obtain the Certificate of Professionalism in Data and Document Recording and Processing Operations; the Mixed Program of Training in Alternation with Employment, CONECTA, which leads to the Certificate of Professionalism in Auxiliary Operations of administrative and general services, and the Agrodiversity Program, of Training in Alternation with Employment and Youth Guarantee to obtain the Certificate of Professionalism in Auxiliary Activities in agriculture, training which is also given at Envera Tenerife together with the Seed Project and the certificates of professionalism in agriculture and gardening.
These projects, co-financed by the Government of the Canary Islands and the European Union through the European Social Fund, are aimed at unemployed people with disabilities and run until December 2017.
Envera works every day to enhance the capabilities of people with disabilities. Beatriz and Jennifer are an example of how, with the necessary support and the attitude to improve, there are no insurmountable barriers. And, as they have shown, we can all be the best at something, a motto under which Envera celebrates its 40th anniversary, which has the Honorary Presidency of H.M. Queen Letizia.
