Elena Berriatua is the mother of Martina, a 16-month-old girl who arrived at Envera' s Early Inter vention Service where she has spent the last three years receiving the support she needs for her development through personalized therapies and treatments provided by Envera's multidisciplinary team.
Recently, Martina finished her stage in Early Childhood Care and her mother wrote this letter to say goodbye:
Our last day arrived, our farewell and we can only thank you for the immense love and affection you have had for us. Thank you because I have felt sheltered and understood, you have been my raft among so much chaos, you have been just what a mom is looking for in a situation like this.
I always tell you, for me, the best, because your work is not just a therapy, you have supported me when I have felt overwhelmed, you have listened to me when no one understood me and above all, you have taken care of the most precious thing I have in life with the utmost affection.
No, I didn't want to leave already, and not because I think Martina is going to be bad, it's just that I know it's going to be hard for me to think that there's anyone like you.
I am sure I have made many mistakes, I am sure I have not always done things perfectly, I am sure I have not always accepted things as they came, but I have always done it from the heart thinking about what was best for Martina (with you everything has been much easier).
Thank you from the bottom of my heart because you have taken me by the hand in this not easy and very hard road.
Rest assured that I will ALWAYS carry you in my heart and I will NEVER be able to forget how loved we have felt. And although it has been hard for me to accept that this is over (I think the hardest) it is time to give way to new little ones who also need you (although I would bring you to my house forever).
THANK YOU SO MUCH! WE LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!
A big kiss,
Elena Berriatua
This letter has been received with emotion and joy by the Envera team and is now reproduced with Elena's permission.
As Cristina Sánchez, coordinator of the Early Attention and Neurodevelopment Service, points out, "at Envera we offer comprehensive care to the more than 250 children we attend to each week, but we also accompany the families. Elena's words sum up very well what we want to achieve in our work with families".
This NGO, which was founded by Iberia in 1977, has been offeringearly intervention treatment to children from 0 to 6 years of age with developmental disorders, or at risk of suffering them, for more than 30 years, with the aim of detecting and responding to their needs as early as possible.
It also has aChild and Adolescent Neurodevelopmentservice aimed at children and young people from 6 to 18 years of age who have been discharged from the Early Care programs due to age criteria and continue to need specialized attention for the development of their abilities and skills, as well as those whose difficulties have been detected or have appeared beyond the first stage of childhood.
Located in Madrid, this child and youth care center has the capacity to care for more than 250 children and young people on an outpatient basis in individualized treatments or in small groups through a large multidisciplinary team of specialists (teachers, psychologists, neuropsychologists, pedagogues, physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and social workers).
In addition, Envera has an assessment unit formed by the center's multidisciplinary team whose objective is to carry out a quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the child's current situation and needs. Through family interviews, systematic observation and a quantitative assessment through standardized tests, we gather the necessary information to guide us on the appropriate intervention strategies for each case.
There is also a program of continuous and global monitoring of all aspects related to neurodevelopment that helps in the detection of possible warning signs and allows early and effective action to be taken if necessary.
