It is a system of fundraising for solidarity, known by the English term crowdfunding (crowdfunding ). Its purpose is to encourage citizens to support charitable causes by donating small amounts of money.
There are two main features of this form of financing, which is experiencing a moment of splendor due to the fact that people are increasingly taking on solidarity challenges as their own. Firstly, the non-intervention of banks, since they are direct donations, and secondly, the diffusion through the Internet, through social financing platforms that operate both in our country and abroad. As a starting point, the organizers of the campaign must establish as a priority the charitable purpose to be supported by the collection of funds, as well as the total amount to be raised and a limited time to reach this goal.
In short, a method of fundraising with interesting potential for NGOs, which in this way are directly financed to cover specific objectives or campaigns, regardless of their economic resources, private or public.
