Iberia launches 'Háblalo', a comprehensive accessibility app supported by Envera

  • Háblalo eliminates communication barriers and allows people to travel with greater autonomy.
  • Hearing impaired, intellectually disabled and people with reduced mobility from Envera have participated in its testing.

Madrid | January 30, 2025

Fitur 2025, the main tourism trade fair held last week at IFEMA and which has once again broken records -more than 255,000 attendees and an impact of 445 million euros in Madrid- has been the great showcase in which innovative and pioneering initiatives have been presented to promote a competitive tourism sector within everyone's reach. One of the main novelties was the Háblalo application that Iberia presented at its stand, an innovative app that eliminates communication barriers and makes flying more accessible for everyone. A major milestone for aviation that favors universal accessibility and travel with greater autonomy.

As the company points out, "designed under the concept of universal accessibility, Háblalo is the app that improves communication for people with hearing disabilities, language barriers or other communication difficulties", although it can be used by "anyone who needs it, such as the elderly, foreign tourists or even passengers who are not used to taking a plane", as Ainhoa Serrano, Iberia's Social Impact Manager, who led the project, pointed out during the presentation.

For Paula Lafora, Director of Customer Experience, the application allows Iberia to continue advancing in its commitment to make flying a positive experience for everyone.

The app, developed by Asteroid, has been designed by people with disabilities from Envera, a social entity that was born from Iberia 48 years ago and that has contributed with its experience and collaborated with the design of Háblalo from the very beginning.

This is the case, for example, of Paloma Pérez, a hearing impaired professional from the Digital Services Area, and Kenia Herráez, a resident with an intellectual disability and reduced mobility, who participated in an Iberia pilot flight from Madrid to Barcelona to test the correct functioning of the application, together with María Luisa Vives from the Hola Qué Tal - Afasia Association.

According to Mateo Nicolás Salvatto, founder and CEO of Asteroid, "Iberia becomes the first global airline to incorporate Háblalo for Business to make its travel experience truly accessible to all people with communication difficulties".

Another of the people involved in the project has been Alex Roca, influencer and athlete with cerebral palsy, who shows in this video how the app works.

Iberia is now joining forces with Háblalo to create a new communication experience between staff and passengers, allowing them to express themselves autonomously, from anywhere and without the need for an internet connection throughout the entire trip.
