On the occasion of the International Day of Families, which is commemorated every May 15, Iberia and Envera brought together more than 250 people at its Integral Disability Center to share a day of inclusion, volunteering and coexistence between the families of the airline's employees and Envera's people with intellectual disabilities.

This NGO was born from Iberia 47 years ago and together they have developed an important social work focused on the accompaniment, throughout the journey of their lives, of people with disabilities so that they can occupy their place in the world with dignity. Today Envera is a non-profit entity open to the whole of society that serves more than 5,000 people with disabilities and their families every year, provides stable employment to more than 850 and impacts, together with other organizations, on 11 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.

In this context, Iberia and Iberia Express employees and their families joined the activities carried out by Envera in its large Integral Disability Center in Colmenar Viejo (Madrid), with the collaboration of La Gata ComunicaciĂłn.

After a first immersion in the organization, a massive inclusive Zumba class started the engines of a very special day that ended with the inauguration of the Iberia Garden, created by the company's volunteers together with people from the Residence for Elderly People with Intellectual Disabilities and Premature Aging (45 years old).

Envera's CEO, Enrique Grande, and Iberia's Social Impact Manager, Ainhoa Serrano, were in charge of inaugurating the Iberia Garden together with the volunteers and people with disabilities who worked to make it a reality.

While about 30 volunteers were setting up this new space, children enjoyed activities such as a therapy dog show, arts and crafts or gardening.

In addition, the day's participants were also able to take a tour of Envera's Special Employment Center, which allowed them to learn about the work performed by professionals with disabilities, especially intellectual disabilities, such as the preparation of onboard toiletry bags, the digital management of more than 2 million rejected tickets each year, or the circular economy project and alliances with other NGOs that Envera carries out from its Solidarity Recycling Center.

Finally, the Occupational Center, with its Radio TerrĂcola and handicraft workshops, and the Envera Orchard also opened their doors so that Iberia families could participate, together with the Envera beneficiaries, in live programs, in the making of carnations for San Isidro or in the planting of flowers and organic products.

With this activity of immersion in disability, diversity and volunteering, Envera and Iberia continue to jointly develop this important work that was born from the dream of some airline workers, fathers and mothers of people with disabilities, and that today has become a great social work, a reference that improves the lives of the people who have it most difficult.
