As every year, in the Madrid municipality of Colmenar Viejo, was held on June 29, the III Solidarity Festival of Music, Cooperation and Volunteering, where Envera, our association, had a very significant representation. For this event, the mobile unit of Radio Terrícola and a large team, we gave a good account of what happened there throughout that sweltering summer morning. The interviews with Jorge García, mayor of Colmenar Viejo, members of all the associations based in the municipality, and volunteers, as well as Civil Protection, inspired a different program, where solidarity was the protagonist.
With the powerful, colossal voice of our sports director, Amadeo Meler, the Hercy broadcast began in an energetic and vital way for the most avid listeners of the weekend. The solidarity markets and the stalls of each of the associations surrounded us on both sides and in front of the microphones, our first guest: Jorge García. Re-elected mayor of Colmenar Viejo, in the last municipal elections, he spoke to us about the new challenges for the next 4 years, the ongoing projects and the continuity in the policy of support to the associations of Colmenar Viejo. Congratulations on this new stage, Mayor.
There we met Ana del Arco, responsible for the Volunteer Information Point, who did not stop from one place to another, organizing and giving us some very colorful T-shirts. For our part, Isabel Pane and Justo Meca were in charge of the interviews on the ground, led by Pilar Santos and Mari Carmen Rodriguez Tain, both teachers of the Envera handicraft workshops and organizers of the Envera flea market. As if this were not enough, Elaine Rodrigues, our Zumba teacher, exhibited a range of fast-paced rhythms, which all those who attended the suggestive claim, did not hesitate to imitate.
The tour of the different associations was not long in coming, from the first to the last table, we approached microphone in hand to ask them briefly about their projects. We spoke with the VihdaAssociation, with the Red Cross, with the Basilica Foundation and the Jesus Caminante Association, with Asprodico, the Spanish Association Against Cancer, with the animal protection organization in Colmenar Viejo, ADAAT, with our friends from AMPA Miguel Hernandez, with our neighbors from Caritas Colmenar and even with Civil Protection. All there to give visibility to projects in which they leave much of their energy and their lives, most of them volunteers. Congratulations to all for your dedication and generosity.
Although he did not want to intervene, due to the work that was already accumulating in the barbecue, Toni, the parish priest of the Church of San José, the famous "Pater" of which we heard so much from Amadeo, takes a second to tell us that all the proceeds from the tasty morsels prepared under that infernal sun, will go to the soup kitchen, which, like other admirable activities, comes from his modest parish. What a priest of action!
And so we said goodbye to the edge of the afternoon and an almost mortal suffocation, and then continue the festive day with what they now call flashmob, and then all to dancerrrr with more zumba, the super solidarity raffle, more markets and a great musical concert that would put the finishing touch to a day that we will not easily forget.
Thanks to the City Council of Colmenar Viejo, to all the associations, to civil protection, to the participating music groups and to all those good people who walk, who are the soul of the purest solidarity: the volunteers.
