The Open Day at the Colmenar Care Services on May 25 began at 12:00 noon with a welcome to parents and family members.
The disabled users showed their parents, with enthusiasm and involvement, how they work on a daily basis, so that their parents could see firsthand their efforts to develop their talent.
The day had an eminently practical sense of sharing: the technicians responsible for the occupational workshops brought the families closer to the daily work of the professionals on the objectives and explained the benefits they bring, in terms of quality of life, to their children. Thus, they showed some of the skills they learn through the workshops: handicrafts, manipulation and various apprenticeships.
They also explained the importance of intervening in group sessions, in tutorials, respecting the turn to speak, although users are free to speak or remain silent. In many cases, non-verbal signals encourage participation.
After the meeting on the dynamics, it was time for lunch, which consisted of picnic-style menus for all attendees. The day was rounded off at the sports center around 4:00 p.m. with music and a raffle. From the sale of ballots, a quilt made by a volunteer family member of a user of the Center, together with users of the occupational center, was raffled.
Throughout the day, the craft store was open, with the sale of products that we made with the users of occupational and residence of 45 years.
