In collaboration with

José Juan Jerez Castro, president of Pequeño Valiente, in our Radio Terrícola studios.

Gran Canaria | February 15, 2023

On the occasion of International Childhood Cancer Day, we welcome to our Radio Terrícola studios in Gran Canaria a guest of honor: José Juan Jerez Castro, president of the Pequeño Valiente Foundation and father of Ely, beneficiary of the Envera Occupational Center, who was in charge of conducting the entire interview.

Thanks to the conversation our reporters had with José Juan, we were able to get to know in depth the organization and the passion and dedication of all the professionals who work in it.1676288876857 integran Pequeño Valiente: a multidisciplinary team composed of more than 30 people who continue to improve the lives of children and their families with their work.

An example of this work is the future inauguration of the home-home, both in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Tenerife. This project seeks to alleviate the impact of the transfer and accommodation of children and their families away from their usual place of residence, outside the known social environment and, sometimes, without the child's usual support network.

"Excellence and immediacy", is the motto that guides Pequeño Valiente. Therefore, putting in value to all his team, José Juan also wanted to make it clear that all the effort and dedication they put into their work may not be enough when they hit certain walls. Walls that, as he says, could be demolished by improving public services and streamlining some administrative procedures. All this in favor of continuing to improve the quality of life of the people directly affected by the disease and, of course, of their families.

Envera and Pequeño Valiente have been collaborating since 2019 to promote the care and social inclusion of children affected by childhood cancer and who have some type of disability.

Pequeño Valiente was born from families in the Canary Islands who joined forces to fight against childhood cancer, offering at all times the necessary support to children and families affected and trying to improve their quality of life at all times.

It is a joy to have José Juan in our Radio Terrícola studios and we hope to see him again soon with new and wonderful news about his future projects.
