"Together we are stronger" on Radio Terrícola. Program 52

Madrid | May 29, 2020

Spring Friday in which many are already walking beaches and mountains or eating porras on a terrace, as Adrian and Leticia have done today after taking the Covid19 test (which will cover everyone). For those who have not yet enjoyed the countryside, Radio Terrícola has brought the aroma of those flowers that adorn many towns in celebration. From smell to taste there is only one step, and it has been given by our Friday chef with a succulent recipe. Today's program has been a feast for the senses, with an Olympic finale: the champion Saúl Craviotto.

ISIDRO JIMÉNEZ, visual effects director of Telson tres60 Group, collaborator of the most awarded Envera's documentary short film El vuelo de Michael, started the program with a cinema opening. And talking about the short film about Michael, he said that they have limited themselves to package it and spread it through digital platforms because "the wonder is yours, the short film is your child and we have only contributed to embellish it". They talked about all the cinema consumed this time at home and the desire to see it on the big screen. And the huge amount of series that have entertained the confinement and are still being recorded non-stop were also discussed. Like "Head", which Telson has just finished. Isidro's job as postproduction director and digital effects supervisor is to explain to the actors and directors what environment they are in when they shoot without a set, with a green chroma key in the background: "our job is to make sure our work is not noticeable". We bid him farewell anxious to see the new series and with the virtual embrace of a round of applause.

LETICIA HERNANDEZ, a professional at the Envera Occupational Center in Colmenar Viejo, has painted the waves yellow when remembering "La Maya", the festival that also celebrates the colmenareños plagued with flowers that adorn the highways and bring good luck, according to the Galicians, who wear them on houses and cars. Precisely she has said that "bringing color and light wherever we go" is the goal of Envera, and that is why she is more than happy and grateful for the huge participation that has achieved the challenge of sending photos and videos during the confinement. A goal more than achieved thanks to families like Almudena's or Adri's: "thank you all for being with us at the foot of the cannon".

A song performed by Ray Charles and James Taylor with the juicy title "Sweet potato pie" could only predispose our palate to this Friday's new recipe. JOSEMI PARRA, chef of Alma Cheli, has put on the table a spring recipe: warm salad of tomato and grilled baby squid. It is so easy that it is almost not necessary to describe it, but it is necessary to give the main keys: peel the tomatoes (which should never be kept in the fridge) and leave the purple skin on the baby squid. It is enough to cut the tomato in wedges, put it in a tray and add the baby squids after three minutes in very hot oil. A chef like Josemi was not going to be satisfied with leaving this dish like that, so he suggests adding a little lemon juice to the leftover broth from the squid, off the heat, and adding sherry vinegar, virgin olive oil and salt to taste. This dish can still be rounded off by sprinkling chopped chives and scratching the peel of a citrus fruit before enjoying the gastronomic tribute.

The Sports Section with AMADEO MELER has brought a very special guest: the Olympic canoeing champion SAÚL CRAVIOTTO. We were surprised to meet an elite athlete, with 16 world and 6 European medals, with such a high dose of modesty. The future flag bearer of Spain in the most important event of the sport, who has also won Master Chef, takes personal merit to give it to his family and colleagues, "without whose support I could not have done anything I have done". Then he said that "perseverance is the secret of all life's activities and the formula for success". We can apply it to ourselves. It is also important to know that it is very good to fail, "I have had many failures and you learn from that. Either you get down and quit or you get up". From failure he has learned, among other things, to value the support of family and friends, "who leave messages on the phone when you lose". It is already known that the easy thing to do is to congratulate the winner. As for his facet as a police officer in Gijón, he doesn't want to hang a hero's medal on himself during the pandemic, "what I did was not a heroic act, but rather to lend a hand like everyone else, because it's my job". And canoeing is his passion, it has become clear.

ROBERTO CUÉLLAR, Envera's beneficiary, has raised the program to the highest point of emotion. Not only because Roberto spoke on the radio, and that is very moving, but also because he did it with Manu, his favorite monitor. There were greetings for Reme, wishes to see his colleagues and a scoop of enormous magnitude. The news given by Manu was to announce that on June 8 the Occupational Center and the Day Center will reopen with all the relevant health measures. Roberto's joy led him to answer "I don't believe it". Everything arrives, as will the day of the reunion with Jesús de Frutos at the olive stall of the Saturday market in Guadalix.

As every day, it is wonderful to be able to communicate with such interesting people, with so much to contribute and so appreciated by those of us who are fortunate to be able to offer you this unique radio space.

Tomorrow, even more and stronger.
