People with intellectual disabilities will be able to carry out training practices in dependencies of the Community of Madrid thanks to the agreement signed this Monday by the Regional Ministers of Presidency, Justice and Spokesman of the Regional Government, Ángel Garrido, and of Social Policies and Family, Carlos Izquierdo; and by Envera - Association of Employees of Iberia Parents of People with Disabilities.
The purpose of the agreement, which is valid until December 31, 2018 with the possibility of extending it for up to four more years, is to carry out training internships for people with intellectual disabilities in order to promote their social and labor insertion.

The purpose of these internships is to provide training in skills and abilities that complement the training and promote positive attitudes for social participation and professional development of the participants. Internships will have a maximum duration of three months, with a working week of no more than 20 hours.
Given the training and job placement nature of the program, participants will not receive any financial compensation for the activities they carry out, nor will they have an employment relationship with the Community of Madrid. Likewise, participants will not be able to assume professional responsibilities or occupy jobs in the Community of Madrid.
Initially, 13 people will be able to carry out these internships (six at the Department of the Presidency, Justice and Government Spokesperson's Office and seven at the Department of Social Policy and Family).
After signing the agreement, Garrido stressed "the value of joint initiatives such as this one to continue promoting the autonomy and comprehensive development of people with disabilities and ensure their full and effective integration into society." "We also want to reinforce our values of an inclusive, diverse and plural society, which does not discriminate against people for economic, social, personal or disability reasons, but rather identifies them by their condition as people with full equality. A demand for social justice that we must all address from the conviction that the value of equality is in inclusion," he said.
For his part, Carlos Izquierdo stressed the importance of coordination between administrations and social and private initiatives, with the aim of collaborating in actions whose objective is to achieve the greatest social welfare and integral development of the most vulnerable people. He also stressed that "the best tool of social policies is the creation of employment, generating the necessary conditions to facilitate equal opportunities and eradicate any type of discrimination".
On behalf of Envera, the president, José Antonio Quintero, wished to highlight the "exemplary nature of the Community of Madrid as a socially responsible administration" and thanked the regional president, Cristina Cifuentes, for her support of Envera's social mission.
At the agreement signing ceremony, which took place at the Real Casa de Postas in the capital, Sonsoles and Mario, Envera students, also spoke about the internship as an "opportunity" to enrich their curriculum and improve their chances of finding a job.
At the end of the event, the reporters of Radio Terrícola, a workshop of the Envera Occupational Center, were able to collect the testimony of the personalities present.
