The president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, and the mayoress of the Villa de Ingenio, Ana Hernández, have visited the delegation of Envera in Gran Canaria to inaugurate the new Occupational Center that this non-profit organization has launched with thirty places for people with intellectual disabilities.

The visit and inauguration was also attended by the Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Juan Díaz; the Councilor for Social Services, Equality and Presidency of the Ingenio City Council, Elena Suárez; the Councilor for Accessibility, Education and Solidarity, Lorena Quintana; the President of Envera, José Antonio Quintero; and the Director of Envera's headquarters in Gran Canaria, Marta Cacho.

During the visit, Morales learned first-hand about the work that Envera carries out at its headquarters in Gran Canaria for the social and labor inclusion of people with disabilities, a mission it has been carrying out for more than 40 years. In this way, the island president has toured the training classrooms, where Envera prepares more than 90 students with disabilities to find a job, as well as the special employment center where stable and supported work is given to about 40 people with disabilities, more than 50% of them with intellectual disabilities.

"Today, with the inauguration of the Envera Occupational Center, have no doubt that the world is better for everyone. Because only from the equality enshrined in the Constitution, with sufficient resources and support, it is possible to achieve any goal that we propose the diversity of the global space in which we live. Thanks to the Cabildo and the Ingenio City Council for making this possible", said Quintero.

For his part, the president of the Cabildo assured that "public administrations, social entities and families are all pursuing the same goal: to achieve the highest levels of equality and social justice that we citizens deserve. Thanks to Envera for the enormous work they are doing. From our government team we are clear that we have a commitment with you".

Finally, the mayor wanted to point out that "the municipality of Ingenio will always be open to all projects that involve social inclusion. Congratulations to all the professionals who help people with disabilities to move forward and thanks to Envera for choosing Ingenio for their social projects".

After the inauguration ceremony of the new Occupational Center, which consisted of the traditional ribbon cutting, the presidents of the Cabildo and Envera and the mayoress of Ingenio participated in a special program of Radio Terrícola, a therapeutic workshop carried out by the beneficiaries of the Occupational Center and which has been launched with the collaboration of JTI and the DISA Foundation.
