In collaboration with

Envera and Pequeño Valiente partner to improve care for children with cancer and disabilities

Canary Islands | December 17, 2019

Envera - Asociación de Empleados de Iberia Padres de Personas con Discapacidad, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Asociación Pequeño Valiente to promote the care and social inclusion of children affected by childhood cancer and who have some type of disability.

Both non-profit organizations will collaborate by contributing their extensive experience in the social and labor inclusion of people with disabilities, in the case of Envera, and in the support to children with cancer and their families that Pequeño Valiente provides.

The presidents of Envera, José Antonio Quintero, and Pequeño Valiente, José Juan Jerez, signed an agreement this Tuesday at the Envera delegation in Gran Canaria to join forces and work together so that no child is left without the assistance they need and to speed up the procedures so that the youngest children can receive the disability certificate.

The Canary Islands, Aragon and Valencia are the only Spanish communities that recognize the revisable disability for children with cancer who request it thanks to a favorable interpretation of current legislation, which allows them to access specialized resources to meet their needs and those of their families.

"Some children and young people with cancer can acquire a disability and we must care for them with the greatest guarantees and quality, looking after their quality of life and that of their families. This must be done as soon as possible because neither cancer nor disability can wait," Jerez assures.

For his part, Quintero stated that "at Envera we have been working for 40 years so that people with disabilities can take their place in the world with dignity. In this social mission that Envera carries out by promoting corporate social responsibility, you will always find us ready to support projects that improve the lives of people to achieve a fairer society where no one is left behind".
