The president of Iberia, Javier Sánchez-Prieto, and the president of Envera, José Antonio Quintero, inaugurated this Friday the Iberia Children's Garden, an accessible and innovative playground that is already being enjoyed by nearly 200 children and their families who are cared for by the Early Attention and Neurodevelopment Service that Envera offers at its Madrid headquarters.

With this reference center in the Community of Madrid, Envera begins its mission to accompany people with intellectual disabilities throughout their life cycle, from birth to their last days, offering them not only early care, but also training, occupational centers, employment, sports, residences and a Guardianship Foundation that becomes their family when they disappear.

This social work, through which Envera assists 2,500 people with intellectual disabilities every year and provides stable employment to more than 800, has been possible thanks to the support of Iberia, a company whose employees founded this NGO in 1977 and which always collaborates with its social projects.

A historic collaboration between both entities that share aeronautical DNA and that Iberia's president has underlined after the inauguration, reaffirming the commitment of Spain's flag carrier with inclusion, equal opportunities and the achievement of the SDGs: "We know that the history of Envera and Iberia has a common origin, that we have been together for more than 40 years and we will continue for many more years. We are proud to be able to participate in this work and the Iberia Garden is an example of this."

For his part, Quintero, who is also a retired commander and founding father of Envera, gave his "heartfelt thanks" to Iberia for having contributed to the construction of the accessible kindergarten and assured that "in these difficult times due to the pandemic, with the immense part of the fleet on the ground, this kindergarten works the miracle of hope that takes flight because everything will get better".

Prior to the inauguration of the Iberia Kindergarten, Sánchez-Prieto was able to see first hand, together with the president of Envera and its general director, Enrique Grande, an important part of the assistance services that Envera offers so that people with intellectual disabilities can take their place in the world with dignity, such as Early Intervention, Secondary Education (where she was photographed in the Iberia Classroom), Training for employment and competitive examinations, the Labor Insertion Service and the Residence with Occupational Center.

In the latter, reporters from Radio Terrícola, Envera's digital radio station, were waiting for the president of Iberia, who became the first personality to be interviewed at the radio station's headquarters in the Occupational Center of Madrid.

For the design, execution and implementation of the Iberia Children's Garden, in addition to the support of the airline, Envera has had the collaboration of iPlay Urban Design and Félix Carballera, general secretary of the Spanish Association of Public Parks and Gardens, and the art of Kike García and Ignacio Muñoz to achieve this inclusive, safe, innovative and sustainable space.
