Radio Terrícola starts broadcasting from Madrid with an interview with Iberia's president

Javier Sánchez-Prieto, president of the airline, was the first guest during his visit to the Envera Building.

This is the third site of Envera's digital radio, which is seven years old, after the studios in Colmenar Viejo and the Canary Islands.

Madrid | March 16, 2021

In 2014 the Envera Occupational Center in Colmenar Viejo launched the first Radio Terrícola studio and, with it, a window to the world so that the voice of people with intellectual disabilities could reach any corner of the world.

Just one year later, this digital radio station without borders that put people with intellectual disabilities as the protagonists of their own story, received the Corresponsables Iberoamerica Award. "Radio Terrícola, la radio de nos une" (Radio Terrícola, the radio that unites us), was thus recognized among 297 projects from 12 different countries.

At that time, Radio Terrícola's mobile unit also arrived, donated by Orange, with which Envera's "intrepid reporters" have covered numerous events in different locations such as Iberia's Hangar 6 in La Muñoza (Barajas airport), the Zarzuela Theater, INECO Day, or the Press Palace in Madrid.

In 2019 and while Radio Terrícola celebrated in style its 5th Anniversary, Envera inaugurated the second studio, this time, in its new Occupational Center in Gran Canaria thanks to the support of the DISA Foundation and JTI.

Representatives from the world of culture, sports, politics, public administration and business have passed through the microphones of Radio Terrícola - such as Vicente del Bosque, Conchita, Carlos Lesmes or Plácido Domingo - and its solidary airwaves became a true balm for the people of Envera and their families during the confinement, thanks to the daily program Together we are stronger which was also joined by more than 200 personalities from different fields to show their support for people with intellectual disabilities during the worst moments of the pandemic.

Now that the vaccine is a reality for residents and professionals at Envera, the Occupational Center in Madrid has launched a new Terrícola Radio station to continue to break down prejudices and show a different, or perhaps not so different, day to day life.

During the inaugural program last Friday, Envera's reporters had the opportunity to greet the president of Iberia, Javier Sanchez-Prieto, before the inauguration of the Iberia Kindergarten at the Envera Early Care Center. The head of the airline thus became the first interviewee in this new Radio Terrícola station which, together with Iberia, will continue to take inclusion higher and further through its borderless airwaves.

You can listen to the interview from minute 10:35 to 19:30.
