Madrid | May 27, 2019

Last Friday we were visited by a group of nine people from the General Directorate of Disability Policies, belonging to the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare, to tell us about their activities within the Ministry and how they carry them out, as well as other details on lighter and more personal topics, but no less interesting for that.

After an intense visit to the Envera Integral Disability Center, the visit to Radio TerrĂcola was the most participative and funniest moment of the morning agenda, capturing the attention of the enthusiastic reporters who happily looked forward to such a pleasant encounter.

In front of our microphones sat a large team of interviewers belonging to the Occupational Center and on the other side two representatives of the large ministerial delegation: Laura Diego and Begoña González.

The first thing that caught our attention was that there were 9 women without any male companion, a pleasant and unusual event in our radio until now. They were smiling, and with excellent disposition, they were going to be part of the program that on Fridays, where we work on topics about leisure, hobbies and cultural events that take place throughout the northern area of Madrid, is "El Finde".

For them, what they did not expect was the battery of some serious questions, of reflexive and no less transcendental implication. Others were light, impregnated with pure spontaneity.

Our first meeting took place a few weeks ago at RTVE, in Prado del Rey, when they showed us the first program "De Seda y Hierro", where Antonio Martin, the famous Michael, commander of terrevuelos and gifted with so many other hobbies, was one of the protagonists of his first installment. That's when we had already arranged this very interesting visit that will happily leave its mark.

In the first minutes of the program, to get to know us a little better, Laura and Begoña told us what departments they work in and how they make possible, with their effort and dedication, improvements in the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities. So we learned that there is an international area, where they share with other countries experiences and development policies, also, an area of regulations, as its name suggests, work on the regulations in projects, in proposals of Congress or Senate, in resources from other ministries ... in short, an important work that surely requires them considerable involvement.

They answered personal questions, some more difficult, others more bearable, but always with a friendliness and good vibes that we are beginning to feel as something of our own in all our radio guests.

An intimate connection is established that we miss outside these facilities, and we don't quite know why.

Why do we distance ourselves so much from the other when we leave this context, why do we empalize so much and turn ourselves to seek such emotional moments, when our external reality is sometimes so hostile, is it possible that the contact with diversity, with those who show themselves as they are, with those who are true in every gesture or reaction, remind us of the essence of all the good that we carry within us and that, for different reasons, induces us to close ourselves unconscious, like the ball bug, before the slightest break? It is a mystery and also a pity.

José Antonio Quintero, our dear president, warmly thanked all these women for the hours they dedicated to us that hot morning and for the work they do with so much passion and energy every day to achieve a better and fairer world.

Three thousand cheers for them!!!!!
