Madrid | March 8, 2024

On the occasion of International Women's Day, which is commemorated every March 8, the President of Envera, Mr. José Antonio Quintero, participated in the inauguration of the exhibition Feminitas: tres miradas ecuatorianas, at the Museo de América in Madrid, which was also attended by the Ambassador of Ecuador in Spain, Wilma Andrade; Elena Mirat, Envera volunteer and Iberia employee; and Javier Fernández Picazo, trustee of the SEPLA - Ayuda Foundation.

Through its project 'Alas comprometidas' (Committed Wings), Envera has collaborated with Iberia and the Embassy of Ecuador in Spain to make possible the transfer from Quito to Madrid of several canvases that are part of the exhibition.

The exhibition brings together thirty works that present three views of the feminine. The authors present their vision of femininity and express it through different styles and approaches.

On the occasion of 8M, Envera points out that "the double discrimination suffered by women with disabilities, especially intellectual disabilities or mental illness, is still a reality today, especially if we talk about their inclusion in the labor market".

With this initiative, Envera reaffirms its commitment to equal opportunities, the recognition of the role of women in society and cultural promotion in the international arena.

The Embassy has expressed its gratitude to Envera "for collaborating in the transfer of the works that will be part of this exhibition", an activity that -they add- makes "Ecuadorian culture visible abroad".

Envera and Ecuador have maintained an important link since 2010, when professionals from the NGO traveled to Otavalo with the SEPLA - Ayuda Foundation to start a school that supports children and young people with various disabilities and their families.

This is how 'La Joya' was born, with the participation of professionals from the Envera Early Care and Neurodevelopment Center for Children and Adolescents, who trained the school's teachers and accompanied them for a year in the implementation of this children's center.

Subsequently, several Envera expeditions have returned to the center to continue the training of teachers and to assist in the intervention and assessment of its more than 90 children with disabilities.
