The Colmenar Viejo City Council and Envera sign an agreement for the realization of labor practices.

Madrid | May 7, 2018

The mayor of Colmenar Viejo, Jorge García Díaz, and the general director of Envera - Association of Employees of Iberia Parents of People with Disabilities, Pedro Sobrino, have signed this morning a collaboration agreement to incorporate into the municipal staff eight people with intellectual disabilities from the occupational center of this non-profit organization to perform work experience for two months in different areas of the municipal corporation.

With these internships, Envera's people with disabilities will be able to learn the reality of the world of work in the public administration, give content to their resumes in their job search, gain experience for those who are preparing for competitive examinations thanks to the social clauses that have gradually been incorporated into the public employment offer and, above all, demonstrate that they are capable.

The event, held in the plenary hall of the Colmenareño City Hall, was also attended by the Councilor for Family, Social Services, Equal Opportunities and Health, Carolina Calvo; the Councilor for Environment and Economy, César de la Serna; as well as the Envera beneficiaries who will carry out the internships: David, José Antonio, Beatriz, Leticia, Clara, Iván, José María and José Manuel.

"We share with Envera that we can all be the best at something and, in this case, we signed this agreement to have the talent of eight boys and girls for two months in our municipal services. We are convinced that this agreement will provide these boys and girls with practical training, day to day work, but above all that the greatest beneficiaries will be those who will share day to day with them in the different services in which they will be", said the mayor, Jorge García Díaz.

For his part, Pedro Sobrino wanted to "thank the commitment to the most vulnerable" and pointed out that "there is no more important social policy than that which promotes employment". On the necessary exemplarity of public administration, Sobrino said that "by welcoming all these students to advance in their job training, the City Council of Colmenar shows that prejudices can and should be demolished, that there is no one worse or better, just different, and that we all count".

Beatriz Trueba and David García, beneficiaries of the Envera occupational center, also wanted to thank for this opportunity. Beatriz was "very happy to do administrative practices" that will open the doors to get a job in the future", while David stressed the importance of these practices to find a job that will allow him to have an independent life.

The signed agreement makes possible the incorporation, as of today, of eight people to the following departments:

√ Social Services: 2 administrative assistants and 1 receptionist.
√ Parks and Gardens: 2 gardeners.
√ Youth: 1 administrative assistant.
√ General administration: 1 receptionist.
√ Mayor's Office: 1 administrative assistant.

This agreement is in addition to the agreements that Envera has with the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, the Community of Madrid and the City Council of the capital for people with disabilities to carry out internships in the public administration.
