The delegate of Families, Equality and Social Welfare of the Madrid City Council, José Aniorte, has presented the '.Madrid Includes', the first guide that brings together in a single document all the resources available for people with intellectual disabilities in the city of Madrid and has been prepared by Envera, a non-profit organization with over 45 years of experience in working for and with people with intellectual disabilities.
The guide includes in an interactive way all the information about the resources that people with intellectual disabilities and their families can access from the city of Madrid, such as basic procedures, early care, support for caregivers, education, housing or employment, and that are now available to everyone in a single document and at the click of a button, from district and municipal resources, to those of regional and state level.
In addition, the content of the Guide 'Madrid Incluye' is interactive and easy to read. is interactive and easy to read, allowing people who use it to go through its 17 sections and 410 pages in an agile and intuitive way, making it possible, for the first time, can be accessed from one place to access information on all resources, services and benefits that exist in the city of Madrid, with the aim of "improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, their families, caregivers and technicians," as stated in the guide itself.
Prior to its publication, the document has been validated by ten people with intellectual disabilities to ensure its accessibility, as well as obtaining the Easy Reading seal from the Inclusion Europe platform.
Aniorte thanked "Envera for helping us to go a step further to support people with intellectual disabilities and their families with this new guide", which positions the city of Madrid as a benchmark in this area.
In addition, the delegate of the social area has celebrated that this has been the mandate "in which more has been done for people with intellectual disabilities" and thanked the entities, families and individuals who have supported the City Council in promoting these policies during this mandate.
The presentation of the Guide 'Madrid Incluye was held at the OVIDI (Office of Independent Living for People with Intellectual Disabilities) of the Madrid City Council and was also attended by the Director General of Families, Children, Education and Youth, Sonia Moncada; the Deputy Director General of Families and Children, Alfredo Artuñedo; the Head of the Department of Disability Support, Ana López-Linares; and the Director General of Envera, Enrique Grande; accompanied by people with intellectual disabilities.
