Madrid | December 5, 2024

The City Council of Colmenar Viejo has recognized the work of Begoña Ontiveros, Iberia flight attendant, as a volunteer for Envera, an organization dedicated to caring for people with disabilities so that they can take their place in the world with dignity. The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Casa de la Juventud in the Madrid municipality on the occasion of International Volunteer Day, which is commemorated every December 5.

This Gala of Volunteering has been chaired by the mayor of Colmenar Viejo, Carlos Blázquez, along with the councilors and delegates of the municipal corporation.

Ontiveros has a long history of commitment to social projects. In addition to volunteering for Envera, where she leads the Project Alas ComprometidasShe is a member and volunteer of Sillas Voladoras, coordinator of Public Relations and CSR of important air festivals and secretary of the Rotary Club Madrid Norte, non-profit organizations where she actively carries out important collaborations. Previously, she has also been a volunteer for ASF.

The initiative Committed Wings initiative is a volunteer project that aims to carry out solidarity shipments to help vulnerable people and families both inside and outside Spain, with the support of volunteers from airlines and other sectors. Coordinated by Iberia's purser, this initiative is an example of how alliances and social responsibility are key to taking solidarity further and higher, so that the dreams of those who need it most can be fulfilled.

Envera currently has more than 600 individual and corporate volunteers who support its social work with which it serves 5,000 people with disabilities and their families every year and helps more than 20,000 people at risk of exclusion inside and outside Spain, impacting on 11 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Agenda 2030.
