Vaccination against COVID-19 begins in Envera

Madrid | January 18, 2021

Beneficiaries and professionals of Envera's residences for people with intellectual disabilities receive, between today and tomorrow, the first doses of Pfizer and Biontech's vaccine against COVID-19 as part of the priority groups established by the Ministry of Health in the National Vaccination Strategy and in coordination with the health authorities of the Community of Madrid.

They are about a hundred people from the residence for adults with disabilities and the residence for people with high support needs at the Envera Integral Disability Center in Colmenar Viejo (Madrid), where forty people live.

For Envera's health coordinator, Dr. Katy de los Reyes, the arrival of the long-awaited vaccine is "a victory of science over the virus that gives hope and peace of mind to continue caring for people with disabilities" now that we are in the midst of the third wave of infections.

After this first dose, vaccinated persons will receive the second dose in 21 days to reach, days later, the definitive efficacy of the vaccine.

Envera is working to ensure that the vaccine will soon reach the rest of its residential services in the Community of Madrid, where more than ninety people with intellectual disabilities are cared for.
