Workers' Day: Envera and ENAIRE employ 275 people with disabilities, 90 of them in the aviation sector

Madrid | April 29, 2022

On the occasion of the International Workers' Day, which will be commemorated next May 1st, Envera and ENAIRE take stock of the number of job placements of people with disabilities achieved thanks to the collaboration between both entities. Since the beginning of the ENAIRE Project in 2020, which is being continued with a second edition, more than 275 people with disabilities have got a job and, of them, 90 have done so in companies of the aeronautical sector, such as Iberia, Iberia Express, Airbus, Vueling, Farsound, AENA or Envera itself.

Envera claims, with the first of May, a decent and quality work for people with disabilities, especially intellectual disabilities, who are "a fundamental part of society" which, according to a recent survey by the INE, represents almost 10% of the Spanish population.

In the next podcast ENAIRE's Director of People, Mr. José Luis Meler, and Envera's General Manager, Mr. Enrique Grande, analyze the work done by Envera's professionals with disabilities in the airline industry, a field which despite its technical requirements has shown great potential for the employment of the disabled, as demonstrated every day by people like Jaime Docal, Marta Hernández and Maite Alonso, co-protagonists of the audio.

Envera has been selected, for the second consecutive year, in the 2021 Call for ENAIRE subsidies aimed at social entities for the development of job placement and job creation activities for people with disabilities. With a grant of 77,800 euros and thanks to the second edition of Envera's ENAIRE Project, 150 people with disabilities will benefit from the labor insertion programs with which Envera promotes their employment, especially among companies of the airline industry.

Since November 2021, Envera has processed more than a hundred job offers from various companies participating in this initiative and has achieved 76 job placements for people with disabilities, 29 of them in aeronautical companies.

This milestone is in addition to the one already achieved last year, thanks to the ENAIRE 2020 Project, with which Envera provided employment to 200 people with disabilities during the pandemic.

For Envera, labor insertion is one of the basic pillars in the fight for integration and constitutes one of the most urgent needs of people with intellectual disabilities. With the support of ENAIRE, Envera's Labor Insertion Service, with offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, provides support and training to people actively seeking employment, prepares individualized labor insertion itineraries, accompanies the beneficiaries until they are fully integrated into the workplace and develops awareness campaigns and social responsibility consulting (CSR) for companies.

Commitment to society through CSR

ENAIRE's commitment with the reduction of inequalities is included in its Corporate Social Responsibility plan "Cielo comprometido", as part of the company's Strategic Plan, Flight Plan 2025.

ENAIRE, as a public business entity belonging to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, reinforces its contribution to the objectives of the United Nations Global Compact (to which it adhered in 2018), which involves the application of universal ethical values and principles to its entire strategy and to all its operations, and to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) included in the 2030 Agenda; specifically to SDG 10 'Reducing Inequalities', which in its target 10.2, promotes 'the social, economic and political inclusion of all people, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic status".

Both Envera and ENAIRE are firmly committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN in the 2030 Agenda and both entities develop joint activities to achieve a better society for all. With the ENAIRE Project for job placement for people with intellectual disabilities, Envera contributes to eleven of the 17 SDGs, including the end of poverty, gender equality, decent work and the creation of alliances.
