INTERNATIONAL DISABILITY DAY WITH AIRBUS

Madrid | December 3, 2018

As we anticipated in the previous program with Airbus, last November 21 in the studio of Radio Terrícola, today was going to be a big day for all of us. We were celebrating, in its impressive facilities in Getafe, the International Day of Disability.

For this phenomenal event, we have had a group of reporters of proven experience and unparalleled profile: Michael, our only commander of terrevuelos, photographer and others; Carlota, nice and effective correspondent; or Francisco, roadrunner and great user of Envera's occupational center in Colmenar Viejo; and others absolutely committed to learn from this radio workshop without borders, as Noa and the other Carlota, both no less willing and able.

Exceptional guests could not be absent. So we have been accompanied by Jose Mª Palomino, director of Corporate Social Responsibility; Natalia Muñoz, head of Diversity and Inclusion for Spain; Alberto Castrillo, coordinator of the Airbus plant in Getafe; Jesús López, responsible for the manufacture of civil aircraft in Getafe; and Aitor Angulo, an example of a person with hearing impairment working at Airbus, and perfectly capable in his profession.

Leticia and Adrián, hosts of the program, have started introducing all of them, giving way to José María and Natalia to tell us about the actions that Airbus carries out through this firm commitment to improve the lives of people with disabilities. They told us about the Help Plan and the Family Plan, how Airbus supports financially and occupationally those workers who can obtain the certificate of disability or how the families of their workers, with children with disabilities, can benefit from the aid provided by the company to facilitate their daily lives. A set of measures that is an example of commitment and social responsibility.

The relationship between Airbus and Envera goes back a long way, belonging to our board of trustees and, through the ADECO Foundation, financially supporting and recognizing the work we have been developing for more than 40 years. That is why today, they want to leave a sign of what they are and what we are to all their workers. We want them to get to know us and hear through these microphones how they are part of a project that goes beyond their daily work, and how the company they work for is involved in improving society through associations such as Envera.

But there are more guests who want to participate, and we want them to do so. So two other key people within the company intervened: Alberto and Jesús. Both tell us about their responsibilities within the Airbus plant in Getafe, their experiences and how people with disabilities working alongside them are just that: people with abilities as important as all the others, no more, no less. Jesús tells us about a very specific case where a person with a disability has participated in an outstanding project as one of the team.

The program has had a very typical mix of what we have been doing in Radio Terrícola on a regular basis. The more formal part is there, but loquacious interventions such as Francisco's, leave the more conventional interview devoid of arguments. With him, smiles and amazement are guaranteed.

We ended the round of interviews with Aitor. His perfectly understandable words were pure sympathy, even though he is a deaf person. He works at Airbus and got his engineering degree. He was optimistic about the job prospects for people with disabilities. His experience has been very good and he is grateful to his colleagues and the company for how he has been integrating during the few years he has been with them.
An example of self-improvement, admiration and another example of what a person with a disability is capable of.

Today is the International Day of Disability. We ask ourselves, with increasing conviction, if this day should not disappear and celebrate the International Day of Differing Abilities. It is still a bit convoluted for many. It is not necessary to prove anything because we see it every day, exemplary companies like Airbus see it and all those families see it where their loved ones are able to give so much love, show so much sensitivity, show the purest spontaneity, naturalness, cause so much tenderness ... and also, why not, become an aeronautical engineer, a photographer of PhotoEspaña or the best joke teller. Imperceptible to part of society and yet essential in our lives.

Thanks to all today's guests, to Airbus for its social commitment and to all the workers of this company that is an example of inclusion and commitment. thank you!!!!!
