Envera - Asociación de Empleados de Iberia Padres de Personas con Discapacidad, and the Fundación Hospital San José, have signed an agreement to jointly promote social and CSR actions and collaborate in the care of the most vulnerable people. This was agreed this Monday by the president of the Foundation, Manuel Galeote, and the president of Envera, José Antonio Quintero, in a ceremony held at the former San José Hospital in Getafe, which today houses various social services of the Madrid municipality.
Envera, a non-profit organization open to society as a whole, serves 2,500 people with intellectual disabilities every year, accompanying them throughout their life's journey by offering them assistance services, from Early Care and Neurodevelopment, Training, Job Placement, Occupational Centers, Leisure and Sports and Residences, to a Guardianship Foundation. In addition, this NGO, which was founded in 1977, provides stable and protected employment to more than 650 people with disabilities.
For its part, the Fundación Hospital San José has a long history of social assistance since the 17th century, first as a hospital and later providing other support to people at risk of social exclusion. Today, its main work consists of distributing food to more than 1,200 families in Getafe and other municipalities in the south of the Community of Madrid. As the Foundation itself points out, the COVID-19 crisis has caused the number of families served to double in recent months.
With this collaboration and through its Solidarity Recycling Center, Envera expands its networking with other NGOs to which it donates basic necessities and food to reach the people who need them most, making people with intellectual disabilities true protagonists of the circular economy and sustainability.
