Carrefour Property, the company that leads the real estate strategy of the Carrefour Group, Carmila, a company specialized in the revitalization of shopping centers adjacent to Carrefour hypermarkets, and Envera, a non-profit organization that for 43 years has dedicated its efforts to the care, training, job placement, residential care and guardianship of people with intellectual disabilities, have inaugurated this Wednesday a new Envera Inclusion Point in the Carrefour Prat shopping center, located in El Prat de Llobregat.
This location has been provided free of charge by Carrefour Property with the aim of promoting social inclusion and labor integration of people with disabilities served by Envera to make their abilities visible and raise funds for its mission: that all of them occupy their place in the world with dignity. As part of this project, visitors to Carrefour Prat will be able to contribute to the organization's social project by purchasing items and suitcases lost in airplanes and airports from the Envera recycling center. All of them are items disposed of in compliance with the Air Navigation Act that have been donated in favor of the Envera project, in a recycling and reuse program of all kinds of items that promotes the circular economy and commitment to sustainability, impacting on 8 of the sustainable development goals of the UN's 2030 agenda.
Baby strollers, suitcases, bags, sunglasses of all brands, books in all languages, paintings, souvenirs from all over the world, even instruments, a sewing machine or luxury shoes, are some of the various products that can be purchased at this Envera Inclusion Point, which is already the third space of its kind to be opened in Spain.
The inauguration was led by Lluis Mijoler, Mayor of El Prat, who said that "from the City Council of El Prat, we are pleased to welcome this Envera project. First, because it is an innovative initiative. Secondly, because it contributes to sustainability and circular economy. And thirdly, because it generates opportunities for people with functional diversity. In El Prat, we work to build a city where every neighbor can develop a dignified life, regardless of their abilities, and civil society initiatives like this help us move towards this goal".
Rocío Clemares, operational director of HR, Communication and Real Estate Marketing at Carrefour Property, emphasizes that "in difficult economic situations, such as the current one, it is necessary that we can all contribute to achieve a common improvement. This initiative required our collaboration and therefore we have made our assets available to meet the needs of vulnerable groups, in addition to guaranteeing equal opportunities with the social and labor integration of people with disabilities.
"In Carmila we have been collaborating with Envera for more than three years and we are proud to inaugurate this third project with them. We are committed to offering them the opportunity to show the rest of society the capabilities of, for example, people with intellectual disabilities, so that they can create jobs and meet their social integration goals," said Guillermo Nevado, head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Carmila Spain.
For his part, the president of Envera recognized the mayor of El Prat for "his commitment to the most vulnerable and his support for innovative ideas and pioneering social projects that contribute to a fairer and better society for all. Quintero also thanked Carmila and Carrefour Property for "their generosity and support for equal opportunities. With this new Envera Inclusion Point, we are creating two more jobs for people with disabilities who will demonstrate, once again, that they can also be the best at something, a motto that has been with us for 43 years. Thanks to Carmila, disability is present in the public square of the 21st century, the shopping malls, normalizing a reality from which no one is free, and giving visibility to the value of diverse, important, unique and irreplaceable people".
The inauguration of this new space was attended by the Mayor of El Prat, Lluís Mijoler; the Deputy Mayor for Citizenship, Joaquim Bartolomé; the President of Envera, José Antonio Quintero; and the Head of Real Estate Development at Carrefour Property, Giorgio Serafini, as well as representatives of companies from the aeronautical sector, such as Vueling.
Afterwards, both the president of Envera and its general manager, Enrique Grande, received the members of the Association in Barcelona to explain the project first hand.
