On the occasion of the European Mobility Week, Envera has participated in the round table 'Innovation and social responsibility in transport' within the conference 'Madrid moves'. Madrid moves organized by the Community of Madrid and Hindt at the headquarters of the Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructures, headed by Jorge Rodrigo.

During her speech, Envera's Director of Communication, Institutional Relations and CSR, Virginia RĂłdenas, highlighted the collaboration between the social entity and Metro de Madrid with a "historic agreement signed with the Department of Transport" which, from 2021, allows students with intellectual disabilities to carry out internships in the Madrid subway for the first time in its more than one hundred years of history.
Since then, a dozen young people with intellectual disabilities from Envera have carried out their training internships in different Metro departments, such as the CEO's office, maintenance workshops, customer service or occupational health.
According to RĂłdenas, with initiatives like this "the Community of Madrid supports the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities thanks to the commitment of the president Isabel DĂaz Ayuso, the then counselor David PĂ©rez and his successor at present, Jorge Rodrigo, with whom the general director of Envera has recently signed the extension of the agreement.
In addition to Envera, the round table also included Carlos RamĂrez, head of Digital Mobility at Eysa; Cristina MartĂn, CEO of Usyncro; RamĂłn GarcĂa, general manager of CITET; Ana GĂłmez, general manager of Pons Mobility; AndrĂ©s Ursueguia, CTO of Ilunion; and Almudena Alcalde, director of the R&D&I Program at FundaciĂłn ONCE.
The speakers agreed that social responsibility and innovation must go hand in hand because "what is important and to whom transportation is due is to people" and that improving inclusion in transportation and accessibility in mobility is good for the whole of society because "we have increasingly greater special mobility needs" such as those presented not only by people with disabilities, but also by the elderly, families with children, international tourists or people who have suffered an accident or certain diseases, among other examples.
Finally, the Madrid se mueve conference was closed by the Director General of Transport and Mobility of the Community of Madrid, Luis Miguel Torres, as part of a series of activities that the Regional Government has prepared to join the European Mobility Week, which will culminate this Sunday, September 22.
Envera, an NGO linked to the world of travel since its foundation in 1977 with the support of the airline Iberia, reminds us that sustainability, where the mobility sector is fundamental, cannot be understood without inclusion, as pointed out by the World Bank, and demands that we work for transport "that allows us all to arrive on time, transport with easy access and that gives us the freedom to move where we want and to where we want".
