The 'USCA Space' is now a reality for Envera's people with high support needs.

Madrid | December 15, 2021

The Air Traffic Controllers Union (USCA) has financed the adaptation of a new outdoor recreational space already enjoyed by the thirty-three beneficiaries with intellectual disabilities at the Envera Day Center for People with Great Support Needs in Colmenar Viejo.

The 'Espacio USCA' was inaugurated this Tuesday by the president of USCA, Pedro Gragera, and the president of Envera, José Antonio Quintero, accompanied by the secretary of Institutional Relations of USCA, Itziar Sastre; the coordinator of the Day Center, Rosa Ollero; as well as technicians and people with disabilities from Envera.

Thanks to USCA's support, Envera's beneficiaries and residents now have a recreational and leisure area with a shaded area, thanks to the recently installed pergola, and landscaped areas. In the words of Envera's professionals, "this is a dream come true".

After the inauguration, USCA representatives were able to see first-hand the activities carried out by people with intellectual disabilities at the Day Center and the Occupational Center, where they also participated in a special Radio Terrícola program in which they reviewed the latest collaborations between Envera and USCA, thus reaffirming the controllers' commitment to the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and their support for Envera's social mission so that its beneficiaries may occupy their place in the world with dignity.

Finally, Gragera and Sastre also visited the Solidarity Recycling Center where Envera receives suitcases and objects lost in airplanes, airports and cruises for their selection and shipment, either to the pioneering European project Envera Inclusion Point, with which Envera has created eleven direct jobs; or to other NGOs with which Envera collaborates on a permanent basis such as the Vicente del Bosque Soccer School in Senegal, Caritas, Mensajeros de la Paz or the Talía Concertante Foundation.

By supporting Envera, USCA also contributes to the achievement of eleven Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN.
