The Delegate of Social Welfare of the Madrid City Council visits the people with intellectual disabilities of Envera

  • Madrid City Council will create the first Independent Living Office for people with disabilities at the beginning of the year.

Madrid | December 21, 2021

The Councilman delegate of Families, Equality and Social Welfare of the Madrid City Council, José Aniorte, visited this Friday the headquarters of Envera to see first hand the care services and job placement that Envera offers to people with intellectual disabilities through its Early Care Center and Neurodevelopment, Training and Occupational Center with Residence.

Accompanied by Envera's president, José Antonio Quintero, and its general manager, Enrique Grande, Aniorte talked with Envera's professionals and beneficiaries to learn about their needs and the activities they carry out, such as personalized treatments for 200 children with developmental disorders, the training programs in which 30 young people with disabilities are prepared to enter the labor market or the occupational workshops in which the 48 residents of the Envera Building participate.

In addition, the head of social policies of the Madrid consistory has participated in a special program of Radio Terrícola in which the residents of Envera have asked him about various issues such as the accessibility of some streets and parks in Madrid.

Aniorte has highlighted "the excellent care that Envera offers to people with intellectual disabilities" and announced the launch "in a few weeks" of the first Office of Independent Living of the City of Madrid.

With this resource, people with disabilities will receive counseling to improve their autonomy in all social and personal aspects of life such as access to employment, housing or leisure.
