This Tuesday the XV Employment Fair for People with Disabilities of the Community of Madrid, held in La Nave, hosted the round table "Successful experiences in the incorporation of people with disabilities in the ordinary market".held at La Nave, hosted the round table "Successful experiences in the incorporation of people with disabilities in the ordinary market", a meeting moderated by the General Director of Employment, BelĂ©n GarcĂa, with the participation of Iberia, Envera, the Goob Job Foundation and CEESUR.
The four organizations explained how having people with disabilities on staff increases the likelihood of success in companies. "The talent of professionals with disabilities brings a different vision to companies," said Enrique Grande, CEO of Envera, as one of the main advantages when it comes to hiring candidates "who always have it more difficult".
Also key to helping companies become more competitive are improved reputation, increased employee ownership, the ability to reduce absenteeism, and boosting the customer experience, factors for which employees with disabilities are enablers.
As an example, Ainhoa Serrano, Iberia's Social Impact Manager, wanted to share with the attendees how the airline and Envera have been working together for 47 years to employ more than 400 people with disabilities in a wide range of services, from digitalization or the handling of toiletry bags, through the supervision of aircraft engine bolts to the support of aeronautical technicians in the hangars where aircraft maintenance is carried out.
One of the latest projects has been to have hostesses with intellectual disabilities at the company's events, such as its stand at Fitur or Espacio Iberia.

For Serrano, the training of professionals with disabilities is important, as it is also essential to accompany and raise awareness in companies so that they know how to carry out this inclusion in a positive way. In this sense, he wanted to highlight the work of the support units of entities such as Envera, which not only work with candidates, but also with the areas or departments that are going to welcome people with disabilities.
For their part, both the Good Job Foundation and CEESUR agreed on the need to promote the hiring of people with disabilities in all sectors, as well as on the co-responsibility of companies to create adapted jobs.
During the meeting, the demand for compliance with the General Disability Law, which obliges companies with more than 50 employees to reserve 2% of the workforce for people with disabilities, was discussed.
It was also recalled the difference between Special Employment Centers of social initiative, non-profit, versus those companies that use them to obtain an economic benefit that is not reinvested exclusively in the creation of new jobs for people with disabilities.
