At 48 years old, Francisco José Benito has two great passions: cars and Christmas lights. Every year since the month of August arrives, Fran, as they call him in the residence for people with intellectual disabilities Envera that today is his home, spends much of his day to contemplate, through the Internet, dozens of videos of cities to see the Christmas lighting, dreaming that someday he can walk some of those streets. And dreams sometimes come true, although Fran didn't know that yet.
This Christmas 2024 was going to be different. Thanks to the collaboration of Iberia and Envera, Fran has enjoyed a trip to the "Christmas lights capital of the world", a title that Vigo has earned in recent years with its more than 11.5 million LED lights that have transformed its streets and squares into a magical spectacle.
After taking an Iberia flight where he was welcomed with open arms by the crew, Francisco landed in the Galician city with great enthusiasm.
"It was a surprise that was not expected at all", explained María del Carmen Rodríguez, Envera's technician who accompanied Fran on his trip in which they toured the main attractions such as the Magic Carousel, the Giant Ferris Wheel, the Christmas train, the monumental Nativity Scene O Belén Napolitano and the Vigo Christmas Photocall, among others, to finish with a cruise along the Vigo estuary on the Christmas Ship.
Excited, Francisco enjoyed his dream come true thanks to the support of Iberia, an experience that has allowed him to celebrate this Christmas in a magical and exciting way.
