"Together we are stronger" on Radio Terrícola. Program 43

Madrid | May 18, 2020

Social projects to help in these difficult times, mourning guidelines to follow for people with intellectual disabilities after a death, what you need to know before buying a cell phone, topped with a poem according to the pandemic we are living, have been the contents of the program number 43 with which opens the week that begins.

CRISTÓBAL SÁNCHEZ, general director of the Montemadrid Foundation, highlighted the enormous setback that the current situation represents for institutions such as his, which have to be there to show their face: "we have to stop the blow and ensure that people have everything they need". And he referred to the emergency plan #PorMadrid2020, which has just been launched together with the Chamber of Commerce and the University Alfonso X el Sabio. He spoke of Bankia's call, whose term is open, for social entities and companies to help alleviate this crisis, "which is a social responsibility and touches us all. We cannot be cowardly or excessively cautious". Speaking of the Monte de Piedad, he said that while in the past families pawned their jewelry to buy books or pay the dentist, now many self-employed people come to reactivate their businesses: "people come with their heads held high because the goods are used to remedy ills. After 318 years in operation, with wars and crises, in his opinion, this institution will be highly valued in the coming years. David thanked Montemadrid for its support to Envera, "which is always there to lend a hand" and especially with the new Envera Building in Madrid. Cristóbal, for his part, has had a special memory for Envera's sports director, Amadeo Meler, and the last Femadi Gala, where he collected an award as a reference of the inclusive sport that he is. "Our goal is to meet real needs," concluded the director of Montemadrid.

In the song that played afterwards, Serrat left his slogan: "today can be a great day, tough with him".

JUAN CARLOS DEL VALLE, beneficiary of Envera, in a recorded message, acknowledged that the first thing he will do "when he can" will be to go to Soto to see his sister and brother-in-law, and the first kiss will go to his mother. "Let's see if we get out of this, I can't wait to see you now", he declared.

PEDRO SOBRINO, general manager of Envera, began by thanking Cristóbal Sánchez for all the support of Montemadrid and said that "we have to continue reinventing ourselves and make a great effort together to overcome these difficult times". In this sense, he congratulated Radio Terricola for its important work. He revealed that in the area of employment, a contract has just been signed with Ferrovial for more than 110 people with disabilities to collaborate and guarantee the health of all Renfe passengers, and said that activities such as laundry are being recovered. There was no lack of gratitude to digital volunteering because "it is another way of being together". There was also a message of strength to a sector as strategic as the aeronautical sector, and so punished by the pandemic, because "the mother is never abandoned and our mother is Iberia". It will recover, he expressed his hope and that of all of us at Envera. His speech ended with a warm applause.

SARA CORRAL, psychologist and creator of the program Sarandonga of Radio Terrícola, has spoken, with crutches on after a stumble and after having been "bad", to give us the guidelines for mourning to people with intellectual disabilities. As recommended by the expert to tell an absence, we must avoid metaphors such as "he left" and use the word death; avoid phrases like "Dad will take care of you from heaven, "because you have to show that the body stops working, and convey that the person must remain in the memory and in the heart. It is also necessary to talk about the cause of death and to say all this in a quiet place and as soon as possible. In short: listen more than talk, do not take anything for granted and interpret feelings. In short, be aware that "every bereavement experience is different". Among the tasks to be carried out, she referred to memory books, photos, farewell letters to tell how much one misses the deceased and drawings to express feelings. She ended her interview with the presenter by recalling that a psychological support service has been set up at Envera for workers, members and volunteers.

SARA RUIZ, Iberia's digital volunteer with Envera and her son GONZALO FERNÁNDEZ, helped us with mobile technology.

Gonzalo, who has just turned 12, has given the recipe for buying a cell phone: "set a budget and know your needs", he said. There are three aspects to take into account: the processor (the heart of the device), the battery, which indicates how long it can be switched on without charging (a day's autonomy is normal) and the camera, paying attention to the megapixels(the most important thing is photo processing). Despite his talents, inherited from a computer scientist father, Gonzalo has said that he does not know what he will do when he grows up: "I'm one of those kids who one day tells you he will do one thing and another day another", he said from his early maturity.

His mother, Sara Ruiz, has considered technology as our great ally, with which we can entertain ourselves, telework and meet with other people, and has stopped to explain some applications such asTelegram or WatsApp.

CARLOS d'ORS, grandson of Eugenio d'Ors, art expert and poet has put the icing on the cake with "Last redoubt", a poem referring to these days of confinement: "to live is now to dream awake" or "to live is also crying and laughing" are two of his verses.

EDUARDO, a beneficiary, said in his recorded message that the first thing he would do when he got out of confinement would be to go to Alcampo to buy refreshments and see his dear Pitu.

FRAN, the funniest beneficiary, closed the program with smiles, the ones provoked by jokes such as the one about the lamppost that tells another one: "we give light and we never have children".

Another great day on Radio Terrícola where the voice takes us on a journey and makes us capable of almost anything. Tomorrow, more.
