It will be intended for people with intellectual disabilities
The association's goal is to inaugurate the center after the summer
MADRID, May 12, 2015. The PP candidate for the Tetuán district council, Paloma García Romero, and the candidate for regional deputy Tomás Serrano, have visited the facilities of the new Center that Grupo envera has built to serve 116 people with functional diversity.
Previously, they visited the Special Employment Center and the Association that Grupo envera has in the Madrid district of Barajas to see firsthand the different areas of activity and the tasks performed in care for intellectual disabilities. They have observed the operation of the workshop where tasks are performed manipulated and cartoning of different utensils that are part of the airline catering. They also visited the Early Attention and Neurodevelopment Service for children and youngsters from 0 to 18 years of age with all kinds of disabilities, where they receive physical and psychological treatment.
The new care center, also located in the Barajas district, is intended to become a residential home with day care for people with disabilities. The building, with a floor area of approximately 6,000 square meters, has two main areas: the residential area, with 28 rooms (single and double), rehabilitation rooms and dining rooms, and classrooms for training and rooms for specific treatments.
In addition, according to Pedro Sobrino, the new center will have among other objectives "to be approved as a training center to issue certificates of professionalism for people with disabilities" and "will be a reference center in Madrid, in the treatment of disability".
Initially, the center has 48 places for residents, 60 places in the Day Center and 56 in the Occupational Center, although it has more capacity due to the size of the facilities, something that the candidate for regional deputy, Tomás Serrano, wanted to emphasize, "the center is underutilized for 116 people, eventually it should accommodate many more".
The Social Work of Caja Madrid, the ONCE Foundation and the envera Group itself have been responsible for financing the construction of the center, which is expected to be inaugurated in the coming months. The PP candidate for the district council, Paloma García Romero, pointed out that "the center is perfectly prepared and adapted" and stressed that "centers like these are needed in the Community of Madrid".
