In collaboration with

Manuel Álvarez Ugarte and Jesús Mañeru, the art of two masters on Radio Terrícola

Madrid | December 24, 2019

By pure chance, the vicissitudes of life have brought us two good friends who, after a long absence, have left us today the essence of their art, their sympathy and their great generosity. Both are masters of their instruments, and also composers. Today they have given us a good dose of good music and pure positive energy for our Radio Terrícola and those who inhabit it.

They share one of the most creative and exciting professions, they are both open-minded creatures, free-spirited artists, citizens of the world, they suffer from the evil of perfection and, to top it off, they are good people: they are Manuel Álvarez Ugarte and Jesús Mañeru, musicians, composers, lovers of life and, today, our fantastic guests. Bravo to them!

Years ago a visit from both of them was pending and as time is more fleeting than a partridge's heartbeat, it has had to rain a lot since then. A coincidence and good will were enough to have them here accompanied by some of their instruments: Jesús, with his leguero bass drum, the versatile cajón, his melodica, the ancestral tinaja and a luxury ride ; Manuel was not alone either, one of his wonderful Spanish guitars of luthier and a charangón, or ronroco, handmade and precious, with which they flooded the air with rhythms, melodies and harmonies typical of other sister lands.

On the other side, reporters and spectators with their ears wide open, expectant and the best disposition to bring their joy and dedication to the guests. It couldn't have been better.

We were in such good company when the first notes sounded. An enraptured crowd, the silence contained, the senses ready. It was the beginning of an experience that will remain as one of those great moments and with which we said goodbye to the 6th year of the radio workshop. We could not ask for more.

Thank you friends for your time, knowledge and sympathy. May our paths continue to open new routes where we can meet.

See you soon!
