Iberdrola has made this Thursday the presentation of the International Awards to Volunteers 2023 in a ceremony attended by the company's chairman, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, and with a live Radio Terrícola program conducted by people with intellectual disabilities from Envera.

The radio program was the culmination of an emotional gala hosted by journalist Pilar García de la Granja, in which Iberdrola recognized four of its professionals for the corporate volunteering activities they have carried out throughout the year in different countries where the energy company operates.

Specifically, this edition recognized volunteers from Spain, Mexico, Brazil and Greece who have been involved in environmental, education and inclusion activities, among other areas.

Speaking into the microphones of Radio Terrícola, Sánchez Galán admitted how "proud" he is to have such committed professionals who, together with their families and under the slogan 'Together we build the world we want', make it possible for Iberdrola to have more than 17,000 volunteers worldwide.

In addition, the Chairman emphasized the necessary convergence of the "two souls of a company, the economic and the social" for everything to work properly, underscoring Iberdrola's commitment to ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria and the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

After interviewing the president, Envera's reporters also had the opportunity to ask questions to the four award winners who shared their experience as volunteers in different projects.

In the educational sector, Marina Paredes has volunteered in schools and also with refugees, people with disabilities and women at risk of exclusion.

On the other hand, Nubia Acevedo has been recognized for having contributed to the planting of more than 3,300 trees in reforestation activities in Mexico.

Michel Augusto Fuzzi, from Neoenergía in Brazil, described his role in the Ciudade Segura initiative, in which he is involved in promoting the health and well-being of local communities.

Finally, María Samarkou was recognized for the dissemination and promotion she has given to volunteering in Greece, from where she has spread Iberdrola's values to the entire team.

The program was closed by Begoña Barberá, head of Social Projects of the company, who spoke of the important social and environmental impact of Iberdrola's volunteering "to make the world a better place" through numerous initiatives that, in Spain alone, exceed 400 activities each year.
