Three Envera students with disabilities start their internships at the Department of Housing and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid

Madrid | March 3, 2020

The Minister of Housing and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, David Perez, this morning received the first three students of Envera, Clara, Ximena and Alejandro, who will perform training internships in the area he directs, under the agreement signed last December between Envera and this Ministry to promote the employability of people with intellectual disabilities and knowledge of public administration, in order to compete for positions reserved through social clauses.

These students will perform functions such as file archiving, paper management, visitor information, data recording or sending 'acknowledgements of receipt'. The internship will last until mid-December, in two periods, the first from March to May and the second from mid-September to mid-December, from Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be unpaid.

The training they will receive is provided with a flexible methodology adapted to the abilities, needs and interests of the students; with a program that includes orientation and advice to families, and an initial assessment of the student with a pedagogical report, personalized tutorials, complementary outings to museums, institutions and companies and training practices at the headquarters and the headquarters of the Social Housing Agency, an agency of this Ministry.

Once the training period is completed, a certificate will be issued by the General Technical Secretariat of the Regional Ministry of Housing and Local Administration. He said that the Consejería de Vivienda y Administración Local de la Comunidad de Madrid, together with the Agencia de la Vivienda Social and Envera, have formed a joint monitoring commission in which the required professional profiles, the number of internship places and their location will be determined, as well as the designation of the different administrative units under the Consejería where the internships will take place.

With this initiative, David Pérez places this department of the Government of the Community of Madrid among the exemplary administrations that are committed to equal opportunities and social justice. "It is a source of pride to be able to contribute to the most vulnerable people, those who find it most difficult to access the labor market, have the opportunity to acquire experience, curriculum and learning. Here they do a real job, they are given some functions and they are evaluated. We are demanding because we believe that it is either done well or it is not. We want this experience to be as enriching as possible. We are convinced that the administration must be exemplary and contribute to removing barriers and facilitating the path for the most vulnerable".

Ximena, Clara and Alejandro, the three students of Envera, an organization whose motto is "we can all be the best at something", shared with David Pérez their enthusiasm for learning, their commitment to the responsibility ahead of them and their need to find a job that will allow them to develop a life project. "All the classmates have received us very well, they are very nice, and we hope to learn a lot and that this will help us to get a job," Clara told the counselor, who wished them good luck in this great adventure.
