- To promote the project 'Tenerife Dis-Friendly'.
Tenerife | October 16, 2024
The Hotel and Extra-Hotel Association of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, Ashotel, and Envera, a non-profit organization that was born from the Iberia company, have agreed to work together to promote projects for the integration of people with disabilities in the tourism sector. Specifically, both associations signed yesterday an agreement to deploy the project 'Tenerife Dis-Friendly', which aims to facilitate the social and labor integration of people with intellectual disabilities in tourism companies, by removing physical and social barriers that hinder these people their full development as tourists and users of any type of accommodation establishment.
The agreement also provides for commercial outlets, through tourism companies, of services and products made in Envera's special employment centers, promoting inclusive employment, and advising Tenerife hotels that stand out for welcoming tourists with disabilities and the elderly with open arms, so that they can obtain the distinction of the Dis-Friendly Seal.
The agreement arises within the framework of the Corporate Responsibility actions that Ashotel has been deploying for years and after several previous meetings in which those responsible for the hotel employers have been able to see in situ the work of Envera in the Canary Islands where it provides stable employment to a hundred people and trains more than 30 each year to improve their future employment.
Envera was created in 1977 by Iberia employees, fathers and mothers of people with disabilities, and currently serves 5,000 people and their families and provides stable and protected employment to more than 950.

The agreement was signed yesterday morning by the president of Ashotel, Jorge Marichal, and the general director of Envera, Enrique Grande.
