"Access to housing for the thousands of people with some kind of disability living in the region will be a priority for the regional government". This was stated this Friday by the Minister of Housing and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, David Perez, in Colmenar Viejo, where he visited the Comprehensive Disability Center Envera, a non-profit organization that works for the social and labor integration of people with intellectual disabilities.

dperezenvera20After seeing the work carried out there by Envera's workers and volunteers, and after passing by the Radio TerrĂcola microphonesPĂ©rez has indicated that the regional government will consider the possibility of formalizing a collaboration agreement with this non-profit entity and a pilot plan of supervised apartments launched by that entity. The intention is that several of the 845 new homes of the Plan Vive of the Community of Madrid in Colmenar Viejo can be inhabited by people with intellectual disabilities advised and accompanied by social technicians so that they can develop an autonomous and independent life.

Envera serves 2,500 people each year in its early care services, neurodevelopment for children and youth, training, job placement service, occupational and day centers, residences and guardianship foundation, employing more than 850 people with disabilities.

PĂ©rez recalled that the Government of the Community of Madrid, presided over by Isabel DĂaz Ayuso, is already working to create a significant supply of affordable housing through the Vive Madrid Plan, which aims to put 25,000 homes on the market over the next 8 years.
