Envera, a non-profit organization that has been working since 1977 for the social and labor integration of people with intellectual disabilities in Spain, has been collaborating with the Asociación Canaria de Rehabilitación Psicosocial for fifteen years so that people with mental illness can be trained and obtain a professional certification that allows them to access job opportunities: through Envera's Training Service in Gran Canaria, more than 125 people with mental illness have been trained in certificates of professionalism in the families of gardening, agriculture and administration, doing internships in companies in the sector.

On the other hand, and thanks to the joint work of Envera's Labor Insertion Service and the ACRP's Employment Access Plan, 21 people with mental illness have been hired directly by companies in Gran Canaria. In order for these insertions to be as successful as possible both for the companies and for the new workers, Envera carries out a study of the job positions, selects the candidates and accompanies the new employees in order to achieve the best insertion within the organization, whose managers are also advised from the very beginning.

Envera assures that "this increases the confidence of managers and employers when hiring people with intellectual disabilities or mental illness, as they receive information at all times and candidates are accompanied until their full integration into the companies" - and they assure that "hiring professionals with disabilities improves the competitiveness of companies, whose employees become more productive by generating greater confidence in the workforce, increasing the feeling of belonging and reducing absenteeism, while improving their reputation and customer experience".

For Envera, receiving this award is "a great recognition of the work of so many years to make mental illness visible, to normalize it and to show that prejudices can be broken down if we want to achieve a better society, where we can show that we can all be the best at something".
