Ten people with intellectual disabilities have received their diplomas certifying their training as Kitchen and Room Attendants after passing the catering course given free of charge by Envera, which is now in its tenth edition. On this occasion, this training, aimed at facilitating access to employment, has been subsidized by the AILA XVIII Project of the Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Affairs of the Community of Madrid, through the Directorate General for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, and co-financed by 40% by the European Social Fund Plus.
Since Envera launched the "Training yourself in the kitchen" course, more than a hundred people with intellectual disabilities have been trained in a sector with a high demand for professionals such as the hotel and catering industry. Companies such as Sacyr have supported this program by incorporating students into their workforces.
In addition to theoretical and practical training in the kitchen, all the students do internships in companies in the sector. In this last edition, the students have made this approach to the working world thanks to Comedores Blanco, Teams Heretics, Cafestore, Alma cheli, Mo de movimiento and El Laurel Catering.
The diplomas were presented by the president of Envera, JosĂ© Antonio Quintero, who took advantage of the event to congratulate the students and encouraged them to "take that important leap into employment, with the help of Envera, so that you can continue to demonstrate that we can all be the best at something, as our motto says". Alongside the president and accompanying the graduates was also the course teacher and chef Javier González GarcĂa, as well as the managers, teachers and colleagues from Envera's Training and Labor Insertion Service.
