Radio TerrícolaEnvera's Radio Terrícola, Envera's radio without borders, has been broadcasting over the Internet for ten years since it began as a therapeutic workshop for people with intellectual disabilities at Envera's Occupational Center in Colmenar Viejo, which was later joined by the studios located in Envera's Occupational Centers in Madrid and Gran Canaria.
It all started with the dream of an Envera volunteer. A dream fulfilled that gave rise, in 2013, to the first Radio Terrícola studio, a pioneering radio station made by Envera's reporters with intellectual disabilities with an on-line broadcast that can be listened to 24 hours a day. A few years later, studios opened their doors in Gran Canaria and Madrid thanks to the support of JTI and Fundación DISA in the Canary Islands and Coca-Cola in the Peninsula.
Radio Terrícola has become an open window to the world with which every day, through a wide range of programs, mountains of prejudices are demolished and its announcers demonstrate that "we can all be the best at something".
Throughout this decade, personalities from the world of culture, sports, politics or business have passed through the microphones of Radio Terrícola, such as Plácido Domingo, Paco Clavel, Ara Malikian, Conchita, Vicente del Bosque, Kiko Narváez, Saúl Craviotto, Rosa María Calaf, Ángel Expósito, the president of the CGPJ and the Supreme Court, the president of the Community of Madrid, the mayor of Madrid and the presidents of companies like Iberia, Iberdrola or Telefónica, among others. Its reporters have also interviewed representatives of institutions such as the Military Emergency Unit (UME) or the Ombudsman, as well as other social entities (Red Cross, Volunteers for Africa, AUDE, Grupo Talía, etc.) with which Envera collaborates to help vulnerable families in Spain and abroad.
In addition, thanks to its two mobile units (the first of which was donated by Orange), its reporters broadcast live programs from anywhere, with their own radio set, at events, companies, educational centers or institutional headquarters, which has allowed them to broadcast from such unique places as the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, the hangars of La Muñoza (Barajas), the headquarters of ENAIRE, the Islazul Shopping Center, Carrefour Ciudad de la Imagen or Ineco Day.
Each program is different and fresh; the participation of Envera's beneficiaries, their involvement and self-confidence, mark a way of making radio that leaves no one indifferent. It is an unforgettable experience for everyone who passes through Radio Terrícola, which has also become one of the favorite options for companies to carry out a different kind of corporate social volunteering without territorial limits, uniting people wherever they are.
Radio Terrícola is a winner of the 2015 Iberoamerican Corresponsables Award and is part of the lives of the people with intellectual disabilities that Envera accompanies, even in the worst moments of the pandemic where it was a breath of hope for all of them with the daily program Juntos somos más fuertes, which served to unite the residents and their families during the confinement.
