In collaboration with

People with disabilities from Envera and SAMUR-Protección Civil, protagonists of our 2020 solidarity calendar.

Madrid | December 16, 2019

The spokesperson of the Madrid City Council and delegate of the Security and Emergencies Area, Inmaculada Sanz, attended this morning the presentation of Envera's solidarity calendar, with which this year pays tribute to the municipal emergency service SAMUR-Protección Civil.

The event, which took place at the Palacio de Cibeles, was attended by the general director of emergencies, Enrique López; the deputy director of SAMUR-Protección Civil, Carmen Camacho; and the president of Envera, José Antonio Quintero, as well as students and beneficiaries of this social entity who, after the event, paid a visit to the Plenary Hall.

Grupo Envera is a non-profit organization founded 42 years ago by Iberia employees who have children with intellectual disabilities. Today it is an organization open to society as a whole that serves 2,500 people every year, offering early care services, training, occupational center, sports, residences and guardianship foundation; and provides stable employment to more than 850 people with disabilities.

In addition, Envera has several collaboration programs and agreements with the Madrid City Council for the social and labor inclusion of people with disabilities and training internships.

The solidarity calendar presented this morning is a desktop almanac with 38 photographs taken by the Mingote Award winner Miguel Berrocal. Each month reflects a value: commitment to life, spirit of continuous improvement, maximum ethical integrity, professional excellence, teamwork, demanding training, sustainability, responsibility, quality management, solidarity, innovation, effectiveness and efficiency. For a price of three euros, destined to the social projects that Envera develops for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, the solidarity calendar can be purchased at Envera Inclusion Point (Islazul shopping mall and Carrefour Ciudad de la Imagen) and in the various Envera locations (Madrid, Colmenar Viejo, Barcelona, Malaga, Tenerife and Gran Canaria).

Inmaculada Sanz pointed out that it is "a real privilege for the Madrid City Council to be part of this wonderful project, which once again highlights the spirit of solidarity of this city and its inhabitants".

Sanz explained that SAMUR-Protección Civil has collaborated in this project promoted by Envera to develop a calendar and a solidarity agenda "with which we pay tribute to our beloved municipal emergency service for their dedication and commitment to such a rewarding work as trying to improve the lives of people in vulnerable situations".

Sanz has congratulated Envera "for the admirable work it does in caring for people with intellectual disabilities and offer them health care, training and the possibility of access to employment, providing opportunities for them to overcome and develop in a friendlier environment and adapted to their needs".

The delegate pointed out that the Madrid City Council will always support initiatives such as this "that pursue a social purpose and involve being at the side of those who need it most, especially when it comes to children".

He also congratulated "all the protagonists of these endearing photos that we will be able to enjoy throughout the year 2020 because during the next twelve months they will be the image of the essential values that should always be present in our society, in which coexistence and integrity of all is a priority and where no one is left behind".

The president of Envera, José Antonio Quintero, has indicated his desire to "commemorate in 2020 the commitment that SAMUR-Protección Civil represents, with more than 30 years of exemplary service, always at the side of the citizens and where each and every one of us who live in the capital of Spain recognize the value, effort, sacrifice and, of course, the solidarity of the orange vests in a citizen care of excellence that is a model for the rest of the world".
