Envera, an entity that was born from Iberia 47 years ago and since then accompanies people with disabilities throughout their lives to occupy their place in the world with dignity, has joined this Monday, November 25, the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women reaffirming its commitment to support women, especially women with intellectual disabilities to protect their rights, their dignity and their integrity in any field, both family, social and labor.

The voice of Carmen Giménez, Spanish wheelchair athletics champion and victim of gender violence, interviewed by Radio Terrícola last October, has been "the example of overcoming and strength in the face of adversities that appear in the path of life".

In addition, in the different delegations and Special Employment Centers of Envera, a minute of silence was held at 12.00 noon in memory of the murdered women. María Carrillo, a resident with intellectual disabilities at Envera, read a manifesto in support of women and against violence.

On the other hand, Envera has recently joined the Sectorial Council of Women of the City of Malaga, chaired by Mayor Paco de la Torre, whose last session held last week presented the campaign designed and promoted by the Consistory that, under the slogan "Aunque cueste verlo, es violencia de género", aims to make visible the different forms of gender violence and how physical assaults can arise from everyday attitudes that are sometimes justified and go unnoticed.

Promoting equal opportunities and the social and labor inclusion of women with disabilities is one of the missions that Envera has pursued since its foundation in 1977, assisting and accompanying those who suffer violence, sometimes even from their own children.

Throughout the year, Envera carries out awareness and sensitization actions among its workers and beneficiaries, such as the workshops on gender equality that are given every month by Adisnor to people with disabilities at the Occupational Center in Gran Canaria, who in early November participated in the V Meeting of Women with Intellectual Disabilities organized by Adisnor in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Envera also has the Learn to Say No Guide included in the National Plan of Action and Prevention of Abuse in Care Centers for People with Intellectual Disabilities.
