On April 23, the new headquarters of the Children's Center for Integral Development for Children with Intellectual Disabilities in Otavalo (Ecuador), which was inaugurated in 2011 and in which Grupo envera has participated since its inception, providing technical assistance, was inaugurated.
It is a project in which envera has collaborated from the beginning, through training and technical advice. Among them, the celebration of two training congresses in Otavalo, which were attended by numerous professionals from the province and in which part of the speakers were professionals from envera's Early Childhood Care and School Support units.
This children's center serves 54 children with disabilities between the ages of 0 and 12 throughout the day through therapeutic and scholastic work.
Each of the classes in the new center has been given a name related to the people and associations that have been part of the project. Thus, class 2 is called "envera" and class 4 is named after Judith Perez, one of our professionals who has directed the Otavalo center.
Otavalo is a city located two hours from the capital (Quito) and has a high percentage of indigenous population. As in other Latin American countries, awareness of people with disabilities is on the rise.
