Iberia supports Envera's social work with a charity auction of its historic uniforms

  • Iberia commemorates 95 years of history and Envera its 45th anniversary
  • Both organizations share history and aeronautical DNA

Madrid | July 1, 2022

Iberia has just turned 95 years since its foundation, on June 28, 1927, and to commemorate this anniversary the airline has auctioned replicas of the uniforms used by its staff throughout its history, from 1946 until last May 31, when it changed its uniforms for Teresa Helbig's designs. It is also a solidarity auction whose profits have been allocated to the social work of Envera, an NGO that was born on the initiative of employees of the airline, parents of people with intellectual disabilities.

The auction opened last Monday at 2 p.m. and closed this Wednesday at the same time. In these 48 hours, more than 11,000 people have visited Iberia's auction website -where customers usually bid for tickets for flights to specific destinations and dates- and 74 people have participated in the bidding for the uniforms.

With the auction of these eight uniforms (seven female and one male), 2,610 euros were raised, which the airline donated to Envera for its social projects of social and labor inclusion so that "people with intellectual disabilities can take their place in the world with dignity".

A mission that Envera, as a non-profit organization with transparency accredited by the Fundación Lealtad, has been carrying out since 1977, when the company was founded, and with which it now serves 4,800 people with intellectual disabilities and their families every year and provides stable employment for more than 850 people in its centers in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

In addition, Iberia and Envera work together on projects of social responsibility, sustainability and employment of people with disabilities, such as the recent initiative Engine and air initiative for the recycling and reuse of old crew uniforms.

All in all, Envera helps companies contribute to eleven of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030 and develops circular economy projects that impact more than 20,000 vulnerable people inside and outside Spain.
