In collaboration with

"Together we are stronger" on Radio Terrícola. Program 56

Madrid | June 4, 2020

Solidarity was the focus of the penultimate program before returning to the studios. Today's broadcast has been nourished by volunteering, food donations, flights loaded with aid, psychological support and, in short, collaboration in pandemic times. Undoubtedly, one of the most moving programs of Radio Terrícola... if emotion can be measured.

CRISTINA SÁNCHEZ, coordinator of Envera's Early Attention Service, now reopened, has appreciated that the children have followed the protocol "because for them being there is a game and they have missed it". She has told us first hand that they have grown up, they are more beautiful, calmer and come with new strength. But we will have to wait to inaugurate the playground, which has turned out to be beautiful, totally accessible and linked to the history of the trip. Cristina warns us that, although the Covid19 Psychological Care Service, set up by Envera to support workers, members and volunteers of our organization, is closing, their advice will still be needed after the confinement and that there will always be someone to lend a hand to those who need it.

VÍCTOR ALEGRE, Iberia's digital volunteer in Envera, has lived up to his surname by bringing positivity to the program. In the middle of Operation Kilo, he has been giving the microphone to Iberia colleagues, such as Alex, a co-pilot who has traveled to Shanghai to bring health material: "we are not used to carrying cargo and we have seen a lot of cooperation. It has been a real pleasure, a fantastic experience". The microphone has passed to Cristina, purser, engaged in the packaging and classification of solidarity food that will go from Monte Carmelo to the Food Bank, centralized in the San Fernando School, in Colmenar. From a Cristina to another namesake, married to a commander of our mother company, who has told the importance of collaborating with non-perishable products because "whatever you contribute is something that someone else takes to the mouth". Whoever wants to collaborate can go until tomorrow at noon to Monasterio de las Batuecas street, nº 18. Víctor, a volunteer, closed the connection and finished by saying that he has seen Michael's short film four times and he likes it more every day: "you are the incredible ones", he told us. We are waiting for you here with open arms.

MILA BENITO, Director of Communication and Marketing of the Food Bank of Madrid, brought data of the crisis, "structural and not conjunctural", referring that the Food Bank assists 537 charities, including all the NGOs of the Community of Madrid. "The confinement has brought to the surface a huge number of people who worked in the underground economy" and that is why they offer no less than eleven thousand menus a day with the help of organizations, the chef José Andrés, the UME, the Royal Guard and many other groups. Accustomed to working in emergency situations, "because hunger does not wait", he comments that they have organized themselves so that the aid reaches everyone without the risk of fraud, which in these circumstances is always present. Therefore, in order to better collaborate, visit the web page https://bamadrid.org/ where the two possibilities of help are indicated: the economic one, necessary to start up the machinery, and the donation of foodstuffs. For companies wishing to participate, the address is okempresas@bamadrid.org. A gigantic applause sent him off.

ANA GALÁN, poet participant in Intraversos, has intervened a bit damaged by her bike fall, just the first day she was approaching the Retiro. She told us that she has been spreading on Facebook for 70 days "a hug every night" to make her confinement more bearable. Then he talked about the poetry recitals, "a whole culture", which he wants to recover live because it makes no sense if you do not then discuss it with colleagues. He read us the poem "Un solo abrazo" and revealed that he has a book sleeping, dedicated to the parts of the human body, but it will be live, very soon, when he will reveal more secrets. Because he will come to see us... even if it's by car.

JOSE MARÍA LANZA, NANO, musician, composer and with a surf sound, transparent and full of nuances (according to the definition of his great friend Jesús de Frutos), has intervened from Toledo, where he has lived the confinement with privileged views. He told us that, after growing up with eight brothers and sisters watching vinyl records that captivated him, he had no choice but to become passionate about music, especially the music of the time that was made with a guitar, a microphone and an amplifier: "the sounds were purer and more spontaneous". This opinion does not prevent him from having a recording "cave" and more than necessary technical means. We will hear him live when he comes to our studios, as he has promised, for the record. A great musician and a better person, who, of course, has received the applause he deserves.

In the final stretch of the program, today more than yesterday, we say goodbye with early joy, glimpsing on the horizon the silhouettes of the real protagonists of Radio Terrícola in front of the microphones. This has been the image that has inspired the continuity of our radio in difficult times and also the reason to be proud of what we do.

Tomorrow, more. The last very special program "Together we are stronger" awaits us, so, as our terrevuelo commander, Antonio Martín "Michael", says, we listen to each other.
