Last Tuesday took place the delivery of agreements of the Ibercaja Foundation to the entities selected in the 2019 Call for Social Projects. Envera's project Journey to the five senses was one of those selected and aims to provide equipment and resources for the multisensory room that Envera's beneficiaries will be able to enjoy in their Residence for Elderly People aged 45 with intellectual disabilities and premature aging and the Day Center for People with great support needs.

In this way, the Ibercaja Foundation will contribute with 2,000 euros to the improvement and implementation of the multisensory room, an interactive space prepared to provide different sensory experiences that allows working on specific objectives and individualized to the needs of each person, focusing on skills such as sensory, body image, orientation and balance, among others.

Envera points out that "sensory stimulation is an ideal therapeutic tool to promote the development of perception, sensations and sensory integration, through strategies and controlled activities that help to discover and explore the environment and the body. Studies have shown that this type of rooms produce favorable changes in behavior and an increase in the level of relaxation and well-being of the person. Specifically, in people with dementia, they favor the expression of their emotional state and in people with cerebral palsy, it decreases the level of spasticity and improves cognitive functioning."

In Envera, where they already have a multisensory room for the children they serve in their Early Attention Service, they have decided to launch this innovative space to improve the quality of life and well-being of their adult residents with intellectual disabilities. A reality thanks to the commitment of entities such as the Ibercaja Foundation.
