The Community of Madrid and Envera collaborate in training for the job placement of people with intellectual disabilities by facilitating the incorporation of students over 18 years of age with intellectual disabilities to work practices in the Department of Housing and Local Administration and the Social Housing Agency. The training began in 2020 and, after an interruption due to the pandemic, have ended in 2021.

The Councilor for Housing and Local Administration, David Perez, today presented a diploma and a certificate to the three Envera students who have completed their internships for a period of three months, rotating monthly through different departments, with the aim of facilitating their access to the world of work and learn about the workings of the administration in order to prepare for competitive examinations.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Housing, Concepción Dancausa; the Managing Director of the Social Housing Agency, Manuel Ángel Fernández; the President of Envera, José Antonio Quintero; as well as officials and civil servants from the Regional Ministry who wanted to accompany the scholarship holders at this special moment for them.

After receiving the certificate of completion of the internship, Juan Felipe, an Envera student, thanked on behalf of his colleagues the welcome from the workers of the Community of Madrid. "The best thing has been learning from you and the camaraderie that you have transmitted to us," he said.

For his part, Quintero has referred to the counselor and thanked him for "his commitment to the most vulnerable and for the exemplarity of the Department of Housing and Local Government and its professionals for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through social action of the Community of Madrid".

David Pérez closed the event by highlighting the work done by Envera students in recent months and announced the extension of the internship to other possible areas of the Department of Transport, Mobility and Infrastructures, such as Metro de Madrid.

In fact, in the coming months another group of students will join this initiative to carry out the same training. During the time they have worked as interns, they have carried out functions such as numerically ordering files, collaborating in the destruction of paper, providing information to visitors, recording data and sending acknowledgements of receipt.

The training they have received from Envera's Job Placement Service is based on a flexible methodology adapted to the abilities, needs and interests of the students, with a program that includes orientation and advice to families and an initial assessment of the student with a pedagogical report, personalized tutorials, complementary outings to museums, institutions and companies, and training practices at the offices of the Department.

Given the training and job placement nature of these activities, the students have not received financial remuneration for the work they have carried out, but they have received a certificate issued by the Social Housing Agency.

The Regional Ministry of Housing and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, the Social Housing Agency (AVS) and Envera have held a joint monitoring committee to determine the professional profiles required, the number of internship positions and their location, as well as the designation of the different administrative units where the internships will be carried out.
