More than 200 new jobs for people with disabilities at the height of the pandemic

Madrid | April 30, 2021

Thanks to Envera's labor inclusion programs and the companies that collaborate with this non-profit social entity, more than 200 people with disabilities, mostly intellectual, have obtained employment during the last year, which has been marked by COVID-19.

Despite the difficulties arising from the impact of the health, social and economic crisis caused by the coronavirus, Envera's Job Placement Service works tirelessly to improve the employability of people with disabilities.

To this end, since the beginning of the pandemic, it has launched a virtual "Club de faena" aimed at providing workshops on vocational training, active job search, resume writing and preparation for job interviews so that candidates have a better chance of success when it comes to finding a job.

The training internship programs in companies and in the public administration have also resulted in the hiring of students who have taken advantage of their experience during these internships to improve their curriculum and open new doors in the labor market, especially in the training programs developed by Envera in the Canary Islands.

In addition, Envera has had the support of entities such as ENAIRE, Airbus, Incorpora of the "la Caixa" Foundation and Carmila-Carrefour, which "through their social responsibility projects have made a decisive contribution to the creation of jobs for people with intellectual disabilities", as Enrique Grande, Envera's general manager, assures.

In the case of the ENAIRE Project alone, 127 professionals with disabilities have been placed in ordinary companies, with a special impact on the aeronautical sector. For Grande, "the data to date are very positive", since this initiative, launched by Envera with the support of ENAIRE in July 2020, aims at employing a total of 180 people with disabilities.

This is the case, for example, of Mireia (24) and Roberto (64) who manage the new Envera Inclusion Point that has just opened its doors in Carrefour Prat thanks to Carmila's commitment to Envera's social project. An opportunity that comes at a time as complicated as the one we are living around the world and that for them has meant being able to return to work.
