Tackling a program on equality with Soledad Murillo, who is the Secretary of State for Equality of the Spanish Government, in front of us, has offered us a unique opportunity, a challenge and some fantastic minutes that still float in our memory.
In this perspective, for several days, we have been preparing the interview thoroughly, analyzing the nuances of the questions, documenting ourselves and being very aware that we had to be up to the task.
It is true that we did not have it too difficult because at Envera we work on the issue of equality in every radio program, in every daily workshop activity, in sports competitions, in the day to day of our residences, in training courses, in each of the professions we perform here, ... in every corner of our facilities, equality between people, not only between women and men, equal opportunities for all is our natural way of understanding life.
We were talking about this and the importance of education from childhood, when Soledad and Alba, her advisor, appeared in the Radio Terrícola studio, accompanied by José Antonio Quintero, president of Envera, and its general director, Pedro Sobrino, who were at the rear.
The excitement in these sets was palpable as it was an open-door program where more than 80 participants were effusive, given to showy gestures and no less excited gestures. The usual.
After the presentations, a small barrage of questions and wise answers from Soledad, which gave rise to many others. Thus, we talked about equality between women and men, about the differences in salaries and opportunities, about our storyteller "Girls fly high", where we claim that all of us can reach as high as we want, of course we can, But above all, the feeling for improving society and understanding the "other", the one who is different, the one who has to overcome so many barriers, like her friend Maribel, with a disability after suffering an accident and whom she has never seen angry, all those women who just for being women are not valued in the same way as men, was palpable. We talk and debate about what we should not talk or debate, because we do not understand that in the XXI century something so basic is not overcome.
Today we have had a person who is involved and lives her work with passion, a university professor who has been doing politics for many years and who has been able to transmit to us that "fighting for equality is good for everyone, even for men". An interview and a meeting that has been a gift and that we hope will be repeated.
Finally, Pedro Sobrino had some nice words of thanks to our guests, highlighting the importance of having met us and having been able to see what we do. Because as Soledad says "it is only valued if it is known".
