The Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid, Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, visited this Saturday the Envera Laundry in San Fernando de Henares, a special employment center where about 140 people with disabilities work, 50% of them with intellectual disabilities.

This facility, which offers industrial laundry services to companies in different sectors -such as cleaning and preparation of in-flight linen for Iberia aircraft- is part of Envera's network of Special Employment Centers (CEE) in Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia and the Canary Islands, which provide stable and protected employment to more than 850 professionals with disabilities.

Envera is a non-profit organization with transparency accredited by Fundación Lealtad, which since 1977 has been carrying out important social work so that people with intellectual disabilities can occupy their place in the world with dignity. To this end, in addition to its EWCs, Envera offers assistance services to 4,800 people with intellectual disabilities and their families every year.

During his visit, Fernández-Lasquetty highlighted that the Envera CEE in Madrid has been promoting the labor insertion of people with disabilities for more than 20 years, which currently has a total staff of 588 workers, of which more than 80% (484) have some kind of disability. The objective of these resources is to provide these people with productive and remunerated work, appropriate to their characteristics and which facilitates their integration.

The Community of Madrid supports the creation and maintenance of protected jobs for people with disabilities by granting the 2022 aid, on the one hand, to finance the salary cost of workers with disabilities and, on the other hand, of the Support Units such as the one Envera has in its CEE.

The Support Units (UNAP) are composed of professionals who provide personal and social adjustment services to professionals with disabilities, helping them to overcome barriers, obstacles or difficulties that workers with disabilities may have in the process of incorporation into a job, as well as the permanence and progression in the same.

Also participating in the visit to the Envera Laundry were the general manager of the company, Enrique Grande; the deputy minister of Employment, Alfredo Timermans; and the general manager of the Public Employment Service of the Community of Madrid, Belén García.
