Envera launches a new edition of its freeCooking Course for people with disabilities that will take place from March to July. The students of the last edition are doing internships in hospitality companies and 50% of the students of the previous course already have an employment contract.
The main objective of the course is to enable and train people with disabilities to perform tasks related to the field of hospitality as kitchen assistants and thus be able to access one of the most sought-after professions in the labor market.
The course, which is completely free of charge for participants, is part of the AILA XVII project, co-financed by the Regional Ministry of Social Policies, Families, Equality and Birth of the Community of Madrid and the European Social Fund.
Those interested must be at least 16 years old, have a disability certificate equal to or greater than 33% and be actively seeking or improving employment.
With regard to the contents, during this course taught by chef Javier García, students will learn various techniques, skills and work procedures with a training adapted to each of them. They will learn the elements that make up a professional kitchen, the machinery and tools used, how to work with raw materials, how to prepare food and how to present culinary preparations.
In addition, they will be trained on the functions to be performed by each member of the kitchen staff, ideal working conditions and occupational health and safety standards.
In total, the students will complete 440 hours of training, including an internship period in hospitality companies that will allow them to put into practice the knowledge acquired and learn first-hand about the reality of the sector.
After completing their training, the students will receive a diploma accrediting them as kitchen assistants or dining room assistants.
